Has anyone ever done this and then found your way back?

Did I ever learn a lesson! I had strayed from my favorite shampoo & conditioner (Carol's Daughter Cupuacu) only to realize what I have been missing -- bounce, smoothness, volume & manageability without any effort at all!

Re: Straying From a Favorite

Yes I’ve done that with skin care.  I would be chasing the next best thing but with very sensitive skin it doesn’t always work out well (ending up with rashes or dry spots).  I’ve finally convinced myself to just stick with the skincare line that works and don’t get tempted by the hype of other products.

Yes, I have had hives, redness and itchy facial skin since I stopped using Purity after reading some bad reviews of it damaging skin (here in the Besuty forum). I returned to it 2 weeks ago. All symptoms are gone and I have my clear complexion back again. All redness and breakouts gone. I do not believe it is just a coincidence.

Absolutely!  Smiley Very Happy

When I stray from my regular skincare, I normally end up with horrible zits.

And with haircare, it varies. Sometimes I get a build-up that's nearly impossible to get rid of, or my hair starts to fall out, you name it.

Good times.  Heart

I've tried many other face creams, but always come back to Estée Lauder. It just works the best for my skin.

Re: Straying From a Favorite

I have mixed results doing this.

I'm guilty of straying and returning to a prior favorite, but I've also tried new products only to find a new favorite.

Re: Straying From a Favorite

I did at one time look for a less expensive alternative to my tinted moisturizer.  I tried Clinique and it was too thick and I tried a drugstore brand.  Now I still had my Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer and neither one (cheaper) could come close.  I have been with Laura M. for quite a few years now.  The shade is perfect (fair cool) and it really does look good on the skin.  The only foundation I am interested in trying right now is Rihanna's new cosmetic line at Sephora but it is a foundation not a tinted moisturizer.  Cat Wink

Oh yeah.  I get a bee in my bonnet to try out new skincare and many times it's with disastrous results.  My skin looks best with the drugstore products I use and I need to learn to stick with them.

Re: Straying From a Favorite

I had to switch from my former favorites (BE skincare) when all the old RareMinerals formulas were discontinued and the new products, made with all kinds of plant materials, gave me horrible allergic reactions.  (looked like I'd rubbed poison oak oil on my face, no kidding!)   So I've had to try all kinds of new lines to try to get the same results I used to depend on.  I did switch from Pantene shampoo and conditioner many years ago, it had been my "favorite" for decades.  I tried WEN, and found a new and completely superior favorite, and will never try anything else on my hair, because I know nothing will ever be better for me than WEN.

Re: Straying From a Favorite

I don't stray. It's more likely I was misled or dumped and had no choice but to look elswhere! But enough about my personal life...just kidding.

When I look to other brands it's for one of three reasons:1) my product was reformulated and no longer works the same way 2) my product got discontinued and/or replaced with something "better" that isn't actually better 3) the science has advanced and my product has remained the same.
