Your stylist can also use texturizing shears on the top to take out the "heaviness". I have a bob and have very heavy hair and that is what my stylist does, so when I use the round brush on top I get the height at my crown.

When I had a stacked bob, my stylist texturized the crown of my head by cutting into the ends so they weren't blunt.
