Re: Spring Cleaning - Beauty Edition

I did a major cleaning out several months ago, and pitched out a lot.  I also donated some items that had been purchased as "back-ups" that had not been opened.

It was a great feeling to "downsize" and I haven't missed a thing.

I never miss anything either, and I still have things to pitch.

If I can only apply this pitching to papers around here...!

I tossed out one of Laura Gellers huge powder compacts ---it was a brighten/ balance ---altho it was in my shade of light--it just looked too yellow on me---slam dunk into the waste basket!!! Need to do more of that too----Woman Embarassed

@Swedishmiss  - There's only been one time when I have gotten rid of a beauty item and then wished I'd kept it.  Gave my DD an eyeshadow palette and then a few months later realized I was missing it so re-purchased it. Otherwise, like you, I haven't regretted tossing/donating anything.

Re: Spring Cleaning - Beauty Edition

I did major reorganizing in January, I think it was January.  The very best thing I ever did for my makeup collection was buy that three tier rolling cart and add clear plastic bins.  So I haven't done "spring cleaning".  I did "winter cleaning-beauty edition.

I have two sizes of these.  Same length but one set is a bit wider than the other.  All my e/s palettes are on the bottom tier.  This conveniently rolls into one of my bathroom closets when I'm not using it.

I'm no expert, but I would think if it is unopened, still sealed, that it should last a few years.  I'm simply applying the same logic as I've heard for skincare items.  Some say once it's opened it's good for two years.  What I don't know is unopened how many years is it good for.  I don't really spend too much time pondering it...LOL!  If I open it and it smells fresh, looks good, etc...I'll use it.

@SurferWife @AngelPuppy1  Same logic for me about unopened items. I always have at least one backup of a couple of Laura Geller Baked products, and they may sit for 2-3 years before I actually get to them. If they look/smell/feel OK, I use them!

Thanks!  Sounds good to me!  I kind of lose track of things!

If I find something I like, I usually try and have a backup also!  I've been burned so many times by things being discontinued.

That cart is awesome!  I wish I had space for it - but sadly, no!
