I just can't do brushes anymore. I gave it a whole year. I might use them in limited cases but omgoodness, sponge applicators just work so much better imo. Anyone still use them? I've got a whole package of them somewhere. Like 50!

I am totally sponge applicators! No one ever taught me to use a brush! My area is color and design, clothes NOT make up! I never even knew anyone that had brushes other than inexpensive free ones!

So funny... we are all so different. I used sponge applicators most of my life, but the past 10 years I've been using only brushes. You have to use decent brushes and the right ones. I much prefer them now over the sponges.

@monicakm I'm with you, I threw away the brushes over 10 years ago. Sponge applicators are the only way to go. I don't wear eye makeup for the last few years but loved those sponges.

I use them everytime I wear eyeshadow. I apply with the sponge and then blend with a brush but the majority is applied with a sponge applicator.

While I also like brush applicators, they have to be cleaned often and I buy a huge several hundred count bags of disposable sponge ones from Amazon and that is more sanitary and work well.

I haven't thought about sponge applicators in a long time. I grew up using them and don't remember when I stopped but it must have been years ago. I try to cut down on disposable items so I use brushes that I keep clean. I agree that you must use good quality brushes or you end up with little hairs all over. I wash my brushes regularly.

@monicakm The sponges in eyeshow compacts or a damp beauty blender type sponge for foundation?

I learned makeup application w/ brushes. Now I do use beauty blenders to blend foundation after a brush application. Eye makeup with a sponge applicator would be difficult for me to blend. For me, they pick up a lot of product and grab onto eyelid primers or oily lids.
