Splitting nail - please help

I had artificial nails a year ago. I still have one nail that continually has a vertical split. I keep it cut very short. I have made it to "almost gone" a couple of times but every time it splits again. I have tried super glue, nail glue, pink gel coat and now Barielle cream.

Any suggestions?
