Spackle & primers in general...

Besides stopping your makeup from being absorbed into the skin ins't a primer supposed to make pores and wrinkles less apparent and smooth the skin surface? I have a small sample tube of the original primer and it doesn't help with pores, soften lines or make my face smoother looking. Don't some other primers do that? I've never used one before. The spackle just seems like another step and i don't see any benefits other than maybe making your makeup wear longer.
