Someone on this board mentioned a dupe for Mally's Poreless Face Defender...

I thought it was Maybelline brand. Does anyone remember?

I believe it is Maybelline, haven't tried it.

What does that mean? A dup? Why not just buy Mally's? I don't understand?

I have not tried it but, according to my iPhone notes on product recommendations, Cover Girl truMAGIC Skin Perfector is a dupe for Mally.

But, it is supposed to be a bit softer than Mally's product so I think it is probably more like SKINN's similar product, which I have tried.

It is Tru Magic by Cover Girl. I think I was the one who mentioned it. I am on my second compact. I really like how it makes you look poreless. They include a sponge but I really like using a beauty blender sponge to tap it on.

Dupe is short for duplicate. many people don't want to buy Mallys (or any product) for whatever reason (price, etc), so they ask for a dupe/similar product (usually less expensive and more readily available).

Katluvr, I am always looking for more economical versions of products I like so I really appreciate your info. I think I'd just bought Mally's when I read your original review. I plan to get the Cover Girl one when the Mally one is gone.

The cover girl also comes in different colors, you can check Musings of a Muse blog I believe she had a review.

Wish I would have seen this before. I just ordered Mally's again, but from Beauty.com with 20% off. (free shipping too with my order) Next time I'll try a dup. I hadn't used Mally's for a long, long time. Used it this week and wore it with the IT foundation powder over it. I think I'm keeping the IT product after using Mally's with it. I had been thinking of returning it, but the primer made a difference. (older "girl")

I've used both the Skinn product and the Mally product - can't decide which I prefer. If the Cover Girl duplicate comes in a colorless version, I will try it at some point because I'm a product junkie and would like to save some money if possible. Wink (I just now read about the Cover Girl dupe on this thread - haven't looked elsewhere for more info.)
