Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

I, too have never been disappointed in Amazon.  Returns are a piece of cake, and the few times I HAVE had to return something, they credit my card BEFORE they receive my item--now that's what I call Customer Service!

Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

The only time I've had any trouble with receiving damaged goods from Amazon was when the item was sent by the seller and not Amazon. If you see the Prime symbol by an item, then you know for sure that Amazon is shipping the item. If it's being shipped out by the vendor, click on the vendor's name and you should be able to find out where the item is being shipped from.

The good news is that even when Amazon didn't ship the item, they will reimburse you quickly.

Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

I am a huge Amazon Prime shopper.  I have rarely had any problems with anything I've received and returns have been very easy as well.  When you order an item from Amazon, it will clearly state on the item's page which party is responsible for sending the item.  It will say something like "fulfilled by Amazon."  I always make sure the item I'm ordering is fulfilled by Amazon, otherwise I don't order.  Also, overseas deliveries tend to take much longer to receive.  If the promised delivery date is many weeks out, I would avoid ordering the item because it's most likely coming from overseas.  Amazon is a great service.  You just have to be more careful when placing an order.

Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

I am a Prime customer, but I do often from third-party sellers. But before I make the purchase, if there is more than one seller, I click on "sellers" to see the list. That's where you can see where they're shipping from. Once I choose the seller, I also check out his or her ratings and read some of the feedback.

I've never had a problem on Amazon, whether buying directly or from a third party, that wasn't resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.

One thing I've discovered is that if you do have a problem, it's best resolved by talking to CS on the phone rather than e-mail. They keep that option someone hidden. You click on "help," and click on "need more help?" and then click on "contact". Then choose "phone."

Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

I automatically check both Amazon and Ebay whenever I buy anything unusual.  Maybe I'm just more comfortable with Ebay, I know their system.  No phone calls, everything on the computer.  I recently had a "bad" product from Amazon and I just threw it out, where I really should have sent it back and fought for a refund.  I just couldn't face the hassle.

Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

I don't see an edit, so I'm adding another post.  I do have favorite sellers I buy from repeatedly on Amazon, I shouldn't imply they are all bad outside of the Amazon warehouse.  But it bugged me recently when I wanted to buy a Tess Anne Chin CD (a previous Voice winner) and the previous 11.00 CD was now $40.00.  What's that about?  My friend recently bought new floor mats for her Prius and an outside seller wanted photographs sent to them to prove they sent the wrong ones.  She is like me, no photo skills whatsoever.  As it turns out they sent her mats for another Toyota model and she finally got her money back, they never even made Prius mats.  Nuts to them.

Re: So dissappointed in Amazon

I buy a lot of things from Amazon.  I have Amazon Prime and use it almost exclusively for things I buy there.  If it is a lot cheaper at a third party offering, I also check out their ratings.  If things still go wrong, I email the company who sold it to me via Amazon so I have a record that I tried to resolve the dispute.  The company always makes it right after that, I have found.  You also have the option of filing a claim issue with Amazon.  I have never had to do that because Amazon has always made things right before it comes to that.
