Is the primer or the foundation the reason some women's foundation looks so flawless, or maybe the technique?
My skin is in good condition but I am wondering about how to make my appearance/foundation look more flawless.
I realize on TV people use filters to enhance their appearance.
I need to find a new foundation, thanks

@Mom2Dogs Good question! I've been wondering, too. My skin has some texture to it, and I do NOT care for how liquid looks on me. I only have posders in my arsenal -- Laura Geller, Fenty, and Doll10 -- I like all of them and just grab whichever is closest on any given day. I've used a few primers including Maybelline, Spackle, Hourglass, and BareMinerals but did not notice any difference. I have oily skin so I don't like even how moisturizer makes my skin feel under powder. For me, I guess less is more. The less I put on it and the less I do it, the better. I'll keep my eye on this thread. :-)))

From my observations it seems many slather way too much on and also buy cheap stuff that often gets blotchy!!! Less is best and a good makeup applicator is a must. Plus powder is used way too much and just a light touch of no color fine powder to keep the shine off is needed. I only use a tinted moisturizer (Mally's tinted moisturizer) and blend it well with a high end blending brush or sponge. The look is natural and smooth - no foundation needed.

I know that I don't use to much and I use Estee Lauder and other dept store brands. I use powder, not much and rarely use powder foundation.
On my skin (69 years old) I don't like the way it (powder foundation)looks and cannot find a good color match either.
I am thinking it is the foundation that makes a big difference, but I am not sure which one or which to try. Currently I have Estee Lauder Futurist which I really liked when I started using it.

@Mom2Dogs @BarbiHollywood - For me, using a damp sponge for foundation application makes a big difference. I could never get the same results using my fingers.
How do you apply your foundation?

@Mom2Dogs @San Antonio Gal @Pook @BarbiHollywood
Here is what my skin is demanding I do to it these days.
I use a cream foundation well actually I use Omiana Rosacea cover (cream) mixed with 100%Pure water foundation.
As a primer I use
Isomers Skincare Stem Genesis Poasma 200 Eye Firming Formula
Looking closely in my makeup mirror (which is now giving me a side view of the surface skin of my face, I realized that the skin does not look smooth when the light hits it! So, I've become more diligent about applying primer and sunscreen.
I have a dermatologist appointment in a week or so and I may ask for another peel procedure.

@Pook What brush do you use? I've been looking at them online. Thanks.

@San Antonio Gal I use my fingers, and a nice make up brush and occasionally a sponge...tomorrow I will try the just the sponge. Thanks

@LTT1 I also use a primer...right now Elf in the squeeze tube which I don't care for. In the past HOURGLASS is what I used and really liked it. Hmmm, cream foundation, I always thought that would be to much, but does not hurt to take a look.

@Mom2Dogs someone on these boards recommended going on YouTube and look for "New Foundation Application" by rxstrmom. I have been using this application method for liquid foundations and really like it. The woman's name is Patti.
