Skin Tone and Makeup Colors

I've never really caught onto the "seasonal" skin tone thing. Only warm colors for some skin tones and cool colors for others.

Do you think any skin tone can wear the right shade of any color? I have always been drawn to the apricot, coral and peach colors, yet the skin tone "guides" say I should go to pinks, roses, and blues and purples for eyes.

I have medium to dark brown hair and blue eyes and a very neutral skin tone.
