Has everyone seen a dermatologist except for me? I guess I have never had the need to see one.
I did not have acne as a teenager.
I had some with menopause. I found Andrew's Womans Wellness took care of that for me.

@Nightowlz You covered it all. That was really nice of you to describe all the products available.

I Googled it & that's what I found.
When I had issues with acne with menopause I used Proactiv plus one on that list Wal-Mart had. They worked but my skin is not as oily as it once was so it was difficult to keep using them. I started using Andrew's Woman's Wellness & it took care of my hormonal problem.

I think skin care products for acne have improved over the years since I grew up. That's probably true because of science. Although there are many OTC remedies for acne and breakouts, it's probably best to consult with a derm to seek options which may or may not include products obtainable through Rx. It may be determined that only minor changes might be needed. For example, like a simple cleanser or treatment product.

Clinique has a line for acne-prone skin.

Thanks everyone. All the information has been extremely helpful. I really do appreciate it. I plan an taking her to a dermatologist. I've taken her to one before, but for something else.

Absolutely
Its best to get that initial confirmation.
I never had acne but had awful break-outs once a month.
Not anymore but I still use Noxema.
Principal Secret Blemish Buster is the best product I've ever used for just an occasional breakout. Usually works within 24 hours.

I agree about going to see a derm dr. They can tell if her breakouts are serious or just normal stuff and will prob rec products to try. Is she into make up and skin care? that also will play into what she is willing to do, as skincare is a little consuming and maybe she won't want a huge regime yet. I used 1006 on my skin--remember that brand? there are lots of good OTC skincare to try too. But getting too involed with a ton of stuff is not a good thing---yet!!!

I'm 59 and have never been to a dermatologist.
I did, however, have acne as a teenager -- and beyond. I was in college, 21 years old and ready to begin a year of student teaching.
I caught a glimpse of myself and remember thinking that my skin was looking pretty good.
The next morning I woke up with chicken pox.
