Simple Skin Routine Suggestions

Hi - there are so many skin care regimens on the Q.  I am a 58 year old with normal skin looking for a SIMPLE routine to keep my skin healthy looking.  Any recommendations - if too many steps, I just won't do it and I really want to do something simple but effective. Help please!

Re: Simple Skin Routine Suggestions

Over the years I have tried different skin care lines and all the latest and greatest skin care ingredients they keep coming up with. Now I keep it simple and my skin looks better than before. No more dry patches and no more redness. Here is what I currently use.

AM Cerave cleanser

Cerave AM SPF 30

I go back and forth with EltaMD SPF because I love that too.

PM Cerave cleanser

Compounded tretinoin cream

Cerave PM moisturizer

Re: Simple Skin Routine Suggestions

I’m 74 this year.  I don’t have any wrinkles.  Some is good genes; but a lot of it is my skin routine.

I’ve been doing this for years.  Twice a day I wash my face and neck with a wash rag (microfiber) with just warm water.

Then I use Dr Denese firming facial pads and finish with Dr Denese Hydroshield.  I use her sunscreen too.

But before I knew about her I still used the microfiber rag and an exfoliant I bought at a health food store.

I think any kind of good moisturizer would work just as well.

You MUST get that old skin you’ve shed in the course of a day.  I use the microfiber rags QVC sells at Maybe 20 for $20.

Keep doing it and soon you will see your skin start to look brighter.

My daughter’s also follow similar routine except one uses Oil of Olay (which I used before Dr Denese).

I’m a firm believer good skin care doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, just get that old dead skin off every day.

My oldest daughter is 47 years old and she gets carded when ordering a beer every time.

I don’t consider it bragging when people don’t believe my age because I think anyone could have good skin if they’d follow that simple routine.

AM -

Gentle cleanser (I currently like Neutrogena Hydro Boost)

Physical exfoliation 2-3x/week (I’m currently using Neutrogena Bright Boost)

Vitamin C Serum (I like Timeless or Mad Hippie)

Moisturizer (CeraVe is effective and inexpensive, recommended by dermatologists)

PM -

Remove makeup w/cleansing balm or facial wipe (I use Clean It Zero)

Cleanse

Firming Serum (I use The Ordinary Buffet)

RetinA/ Tretinon (ease into it)

Moisturizer

Gold Bond Neck & Chest Cream.

You may prefer a separate undereye cream but it’s fine to use your moisturizer there.

There's nothing simple about my skin care routine, but if I had one, it would be, the items I would not skimp on are:

1) Cleanse

2) Exfoliate

3) Vitamin C (am)/Retinol (pm)

4) Moisturizer

@Annabellethecat66

When you say you use microfiber rags and warm water to cleanse your skin, do you use any cleanser with them?  Also, I didn't know if you wore foundation and if so, how did you get this off your face?  Sounds like you have wonderful skin! I am envious!!  I think I take pretty good care of my skin but it is so sensitive, it never looks really nice the way I would like it.  Thanks!

Re: Simple Skin Routine Suggestions

I doubt what I do would be helpful but I will post it any way.  I am 68 and don't have wrinkles but few lines.  My skin is very sensitive and reactive so I am unable to use the products for aging which I would love to use.  I cleanse 2ce a day with CeraVe moisturizing cleanser, followed by either Olay Simple Complete Moisture.  or CeraVe PM Moisture.  That's pretty much it.  I have to use a prescription for Rosacea -- Metro Gel or Cream.  It's pretty simple though.

Re: Simple Skin Routine Suggestions

I'm 71 with oily skin and keep it very simple.  This routine is effective for me, but everyone's skin is different.  I don't use any QVC products.

AM

Neutrogena or CeraVe cleanser

Vitamin C Serum (Amara Beauty online)

CeraVe Ultra Lite Moisturizer over the Vit C serum (not every day)

Gold Bond Neck & Chest on neck only

PM

Neutrogena or CeraVe cleanser

Retinol Cream (Amara Beauty online)  on face and neck
