Too bad the Q wouldn't start a sub-forum under Beauty, labeled Cruelty Free.

Someone could start a thread naming companies that are cruelty free with a different thread naming popular companies that don't qualify. Keep these threads ongoing, adding to as necessary.

That would be so helpful. I wonder if someone did a Cruelty Free list in an ongoing thread.............there are certain threads here which have been around a long time. Wonder?

Irishrose, I think this is a great idea. The sub-forum would be the best if they would do that. So many people seem to be interested.

ETA: According to the Blissworld website, the Bliss products aren't tested on animals, but they don't vouch for the other vendors on their site.

That's interesting because Paula's Choice website says Bliss does test on animals. Where does it say that on the BlissWorld website? I couldn't find it. I did see where they said that they sell around the world, but couldn't find anything about animal testing.

I hope it's true that they don't. I love their Body Butter.

I would contact Bliss directly and ask if you would like to use their products but want to be cruelty free. As Paula says on her website, they are including companies that don't test but sell to China which often requires animal testing for products being sold in China. She does not guarantee her list is accurate, especially with all the new regs, company sales, and changes in policies that often occur. So this is perhaps why Bliss is on there. I have not looked at Bliss' website so I don't know but if you really want to know the truth, shoot them an email and see what they have to say.

Believe it or not, Ivory Body Wash is the best I've tried.

They have different scents, but I've only used the regular and the Aloe ones. It smells just so fresh and clean, I love it. Doesn't dry my skin out either. Not all that many ingredients, plain and simple.

I use JASON - they sell it in drug stores.

I have it in Rose. It smells great, but it is not overwhelming. It doesn't leave behind film or fragrance.

Here is information about the brand: http://www.jason-personalcare.com/the-jason-story-1

HSN offers many different shower jells. I own a lot of different smells from that Mother/Son team that's on there often. They sell very reasonable one's.

Borgese I think is their name. Go over there and look at them.

I go back and forth between them and Philosophy. I give Philosophy to my granddaughters because they like the bubbles it makes. They are 11 and 12 years old and the oldest is really into makeup and all things sub-teens like.

HSN shower gels are the Perlier ones. Yes, they are very reasonable and I like the "gentler" smells of Perlier. They don't overwhelm you.

If they sell in China they have to test on animals by law; at the very least finished products sold in China are subject to random testing right off the shelf. The Body Shop recently had a rather interesting issue with this as they were selling their products in China through duty free outlets in airports thinking that they would not be subject to the normal animal testing laws. Unfortunately finished products that are being sold duty free are subject to the random testing laws in China too, though not the other more extensive animal testing laws. Because of this The Body Shop pulled their products from the duty free shelves (which I applaud). A lot of sites say that they do not test on animals "except where required by law." That is how some lists have certain companies as non testing and then testing on another list. Also unfortunately it seems as though many of my favorite safe/clean brands are selling out to larger companies that do test so even though that specific cosmetic line may not test on animals its parent company does (for example Tarte is now owned by a company that tests on animals though Maureen says Tarte still does not and will not). In that case you are still funding companies that test on animals. I have made my last purchases from Tarte and will not be giving them anymore money now. It is really a challenge to find good products from safe/clean companies!

I love Skinn's Milky Protein Body Wash. It doesn't provide a lot of lather, but it's great-smelling and doesn't strip my skin. Rinses clean and I have purchased from EBay. I wish there was a body spritz and body cream in that line. HTH

Also, the Bliss scrubs contain plastic microbeads that are ruining the Great Lakes.
