I'm sorry, I missed the cruelty-free aspect of your question. I would suggest Body Shop, and there are also a few brands that I've liked from Whole Foods, including Hugo (?), and Alba Botanical.

The Body Shop is actually owned by L'oreal so if she is avoiding parent companies that test, that one would be out. I use to love The Body Shop back in the 90's. They had so many amazing products that they no longer carry now. Smiley Sad

NickNack, do you want to avoid products from companies owned by a parent company that tests on animals too? If so, a few mentioned here are owned by companies that are not cruelty free. I know that matters to most that are trying to go cruelty free. Smiley Happy

HappyDaze, yes I do. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realize The Body Shop was owned by L'Oreal. There's so much to know to really do this right. I have some Body Shop lip balms on my shopping list. Now I'll have to find a substitution for them that I think will be just as good. Do you know which ones mentioned here have a parent company that tests on animals? I know I can Google it and find out, but if you know off the top of your head I'd appreciate your telling me. Thanks.

Wish I could find more in the drugstore that I really like. Sometimes they are hit or miss for me.

I'v tried so hard to find drugstore brands that would work and just can't find anything that smells good to me. That's when I started using Bath & Body Works.

I love Philosophy but we use Dove products a lot. I'm not certain whether or not they test on animals.

I love L'Occitane and Perlier. Perlier is especially good on my sensitive skin.

You might like Bliss Soapy Suds. No need to pay full price for it. You can almost always find some version of it at Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx, or Nordstrom Rack. I like the vanilla bergamot.

ETA: According to the Blissworld website, the Bliss products aren't tested on animals, but they don't vouch for the other vendors on their site.

Too bad the Q wouldn't start a sub-forum under Beauty, labeled Cruelty Free.

Someone could start a thread naming companies that are cruelty free with a different thread naming popular companies that don't qualify. Keep these threads ongoing, adding to as necessary.

That would be so helpful. I wonder if someone did a Cruelty Free list in an ongoing thread.............there are certain threads here which have been around a long time. Wonder?

L'occitaine tests on animals as required by China. The information is provided on their website.

That's interesting because Paula's Choice website says Bliss does test on animals. Where does it say that on the BlissWorld website? I couldn't find it. I did see where they said that they sell around the world, but couldn't find anything about animal testing.

I hope it's true that they don't. I love their Body Butter.
