Re: ShopHQ is changing their name..............again

Found this on YouTube, but it's from 2012. Kathy looks fab, by the way. I think she's had some VERY good work done, just enough, just perfect. I want to know who she went to! :-)

In 2012 Kathy Levine had announced she was doing an e-commerce site called Evine. I remember someone posted about it on this site with a link to a video.

Here is the link.

All I'm getting is the vid from "Mark", and when I click on Learn More I only get the page for email sign up (which I of course did).. Am I doing something wrong?

I would think that Evine in this case would mean "E" as in electronic online shopping and "vine" as in a plant with tendrils, i.e., a grapevine.

Out of curiosity, I Googled Evine and Kathy Levine and found, among other things, that she has been recruited to join Evine.

For more info, here is a link that I found interesting: http://techcrunch.com/2012/05/07/evine-launch/

Boy, that IS interesting! I don't like the term "flash sales" although I'm not sure I know what that means. I remember that HSN used to have the "you have to buy before the clock ticks down" format -- or I heard about it -- before my HSN time. I hope that's not what it means.

And as much as I love Kathy -- seriously -- I'm not sure how current she is in ecommerce. Her attempts didn't fare well, but she WILL appeal to the female 35+ demographic that's being targeted (and that's me!). I'd love to see Kathy again, and know she'll rope me in like she always used to, just not sure if it's a good strategy. Hope I'm wrong!

For those of us who love Lisa R, I think she'd be a great component, too. Both Kathy and Lisa can sell me almost anything (but I'm easy). And I assume Dimitri will be around so I'm already nervous!<.p>

Thanks so much for posting this link. Going to go check them out on FB.

Can you just imagine Dimitri with Kathy or Lisa?

Gulp. Just with Kathy and Dimitri I'd be in trouble.

What do you think? I'm pretty excited, but then I have no life. :-) I tried to click on the Facebook link in that article that seaside shopper linked to, but it just brings me to FB's home page. Not off to a good start. :-)

I'm also not finding that page w/the Kathy vid on it -- don't know whether to blame my iPad (they SHOULD include a platform for mobile devices), or whether to blame Evine. Probably a blessing. -)

So sorry! I hadn't accessed the Facebook link in that article, but here is a link to Evine on the ShopHQ1 Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ShopHQ1

Simply scroll down past the first post (twice baked potatoes) and Evine is the second post. If you click on the link in that post (http://oak.ctx.ly/r/22463), it takes you to the shophq.com/1/evinelive site.

I performed a search for Evine and Evine Live on Facebook but there isn't a stand-alone Evine page as yet.

Regarding the Kathy video, I cannot find the video; it appears that there is simply a photo of the video, but not the video itself.

What you are getting is what I am getting as well. It appears that they just aren't up and running as yet.

Did anyone else get the impression from that press release that maybe it would be web based instead of televised? I very rarely watch any of the shopping channels anymore and do my shopping strictly online.

That was the impression I took from the article. Did anyone else?

That was definitely my impression. I think ShopHQ will stay as is but that they are just expanding their internet sales...with apps, etc.

Re: ShopHQ is changing their name..............again

Two interesting notes in the article someone posted above: http://techcrunch.com/2012/05/07/evine-launch/

The goal is to not just give women a platform where they can shop, but where they can interact and share content and merchandise with friends. Evine plans to offer both live, streaming video content as well recorded video programs, which will be hosted by former QVC personalities, for example. Bozek says that Evine also wants to create this sticky experience by integrating games, but as of now, it remains unclear whether the site will do that with existing games, or focus on social, Facebook-hosted gaming experiences, or simply offer a gamified viewing and interactive experience.

Of course, Evine will need scale to get there, so he has recruited his co-founder Russel Nuce, former QVC merchant and current President of its Accessories Council, Karen Giberson, as well as former QVC host, Kathy Levine. The startup’s advisors include Thom Beers of Original Productions, Kim Caccavo of Steelpoint Capital, Jim McCann of 1800Flowers, Greg Renker of Guthy Renker, Joan Solotar of the Blackstone Group, and Fred Siegel of Fred Siegel Partners. Evine has also raised $500K in seed financing from these investors, and others, to get the platform off the ground. In the coming months, the team will begin raising its series A.

I wonder if Lisa will also be part of this "team" but because of contractual agreements, her name cannot be included in the news release.

I just checked the vid again, it's up and running. It's called Welcome to EVINE! -- maybe a search would bring it up? Here's the link (well, you have to copy/paste) again.

If you still can't get it, no great loss. It's just basicallly saying how fab and fun it's going to be.

It was "launched" in 2012 -- I wonder if they tried something else and it didn't work, or it's just taken this long to get all the pieces in place. But "Mark" said he's just been at HQ for 6 months. A tad confusing, but it'll shake itself out. I DO think that if they want to dazzle us with their cutting edge tech site, they should have their FB page up before the email.
