What is the difference between shellac polish and regular polish? Can you use regular nail polish remover?

Shellac is a gel polish. It is baked onto your nails with a special light. Can only be removed with pure acetone polish remover. I have them done all the time and love the look. I prefer OPI gel over CND or the others. Stays on my nails longer.

I am another user of Shellac nails, and loved the look and durability of them -- especially the ease of getting them redone every two weeks. However, I won't ever wear them again. I've just had my polish removed after 6 weeks of steady wear, and my nails are paper thin and fragile. They are damaged severely, and will be this way until they grow out.
