Shelf life for WEN?

I guess a year and a half is too long for a gallon size. I looked at my lavendar gallon last night, and it has separated, and has dark (black? mold?) spots in it - so I will throw it out. I probably won't buy a gallon size again because I just don't go through it that fast with using other flavors and now 613 is my fav.
