It's a rare time I feel the need to post a review about anything but I decided to leave a review about the Sharper Image Revel 6 in 1because I have so much to say about it, lol.
First, I had purchased the Dyson Styler/Dryer in the past, pretty much against my better judgement because of the price. On the first use, it dried my hair out so bad I immediately packed it up and returned it. I love my Dyson vacuums but the styler was a hard no for me.
I watched the presentation about the Revel and talked myself into giving it a go. I have just beyond shoulder length, layered, very thick naturally gray hair. that has a wave to it . If I let it dry naturally I can get a beachy wave but I have to "manipulate" it - i.e., tons of various products and finger-waving with a healthy dose of hair spray so it dries how I want it to look. If I'm successful, it looks nice when I fluff out the hairspray. If not, it looks like cr*p. When I use my T3 and a round brush, I can get it to behave but I don't have an extra half hour every morning getting it dry and styled.
I was completely skeptical about the Sharper Image Revel, I figured once again I ordered something I will have to lug to the post office to return. When it arrived, the box was BIG and, when opened, I could see why the box was big as there's an almost overwhelming amount of stuff in there. My first inclination was to send it back immediately, too much stuff, but decided to try it anyway. Here is what I discovered:
1. It absolutley does dry my hair faster than I have ever experienced, it's crazy. When I say "faster", I mean in about five minutes if that was all I was doing. With the round brush or smoothing attachments, it's done and styled in under 10. It's amazing. The curling action does take me a little longer so maybe done in 15.
2. It curls, oh my goodness does it curl. I do think there is a learning curve to it though, at least there was for me. You can't curl big chunks of hair, you have to grab an inch or so for the best effect. It actually won't pull in more than that so it does make it kind of goof proof. I still have issues picking the right attachment for right or left but, if I pick the "wrong side", I just start on that side first. It curls , dries and sets fast, especially if you hit the cool shot button located in a very convenient place on the dryer piece. The choice of 3 heat settings lets you decide what kind of curl you want too, lower heat produces a looser curl.
3. The dryer piece and the attachments aren't heavy at all. It looks like it might be when in use, but it feels lighter than a regular dryer due to the design. No more heavy arm or painful wrist, yay. I also feel like I have better control with the shaft being as long as it is.
4. It's quiet compared to other dryers, pleasantly so.
5. It definitely cuts down on frizz and leaves my hair shiny. Do you know how hard it is to get gray hair shiny? Win!
6. A couple negatives: The attachments get hot. They get VERY hot. They are easy to change out but you need to use a towel or something to grab on to them to pull them off. They also stay hot when detached for longer than I would like so I leave them on the sink until cooled enough to store. Speaking of which, this set screams out for a storage bag which is not included. Mine is now contained in a tote bag until I can make the proper space for it and all the pieces under the sink.
I apologize for the length of this post but these are all things that go through my head when I'm using the Revel and were questions I had when watching the original presentation. I'm definitely keeping this thing as the positives far outweigh the negatives for me.
I hope this helps if someone had questions!

@pjsams I really appreciate your taking the time to post this review. I'd just posted a thread about this tool not too long ago, but unfortunately no one had yet purchased it.
You did a terrific job in detailing just the questions I had about it! Cost, Time & ease of use are the main considerations for me. I think I may give this a try. I didn't get myself anything for Christmas this year lol. I think this would make a nice gift! I'd LOVE to be able to get rid of the mountain of boxes containing all the hair tools it sounds like this one can replace.
Thanks again 😊❤️❤️

They sell gloves to use which cuts down on the heat issue with your hands.Amazon sells them from $4 up.

This is a very well constructed review. If I were in the market for this item I would definitely consider it.

@pjsams Thanks so much for your review. With everything you have said I am still torn. I read other reviews and still wonder if it is right for me.
My hair is about shoulder length, layered. I also have very thick wavy/frizzy colored hair. My concern is the amount of time to get the curls. I understand it dries fast but my hair is so thick that it would take me quite a bit of time to do small sections. Every time I have my hair done, inevitably the hair dresser makes a comment about how much hair I have. So, I wonder it it really will be beneficial using this as opposed to my RevAir and then just curl with my straightener.
With that said, I go to our local Blo Dry Bar and when they dry and curl my hair it will last a week. If the results using the Revel would last for a week it would be worth my time.
Also, would I really use those large brushes? I never want more volume, I have plenty of it. So, I'm thinking I would not use a large portion of the items.
Ugh!! I am so torn, QVC really does have a great price right now.
