Re: Shampoo & Conditioner Suggestions

Pureology. They have a line, for color treated hair.

It's an excellent shampoo; it's not inexpensive, but, it's worth it!

Re: Shampoo & Conditioner Suggestions

[ Edited ]

I have thick hair, color treated hair that's past my shoulders. Depending on the weather, it varies from naturally wavy-curly-frizzy disaster. Pre-Covid I would get blowouts several times a week (truly it was a necessity because my hair takes forever to dry and is difficult to style). So a bottle of shampoo used to last me about a year (or more) since I seldom wasted my hair at home.  Needless to say, I've definitely tried my fair share of shampoos this year.

I use a scalp scrub about once a week or so. The one I feel deep cleans and exfoliates my scalp (without being abrasive) is Not Your Mother's charcoal and bamboo scrub, I've repurchased several times. I've also used Drunk Elephant, and alterna scrubs, neither of which I'd repurchase. I've also used Kiel's magic elixir for a pre shampoo treatment. I wouldn't recommend, as it left a residue and was very difficult to rinse out.

For shampoos and conditioners, Ives tried Moroccan oil (just ok for the price), Grow Girl (again, it was fine, but nothing spectacular), aveda nutriplenish (it seemed to weigh my hair down too much),  Enjoy haircare (I like scented products, but this was too much, IMO).  The ones I liked best and would continue to use/repurchase are Paul Mitchell Tea Tree and Aveda Rosemary and Mint Purifying.

I also swear by Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me mask (it's on the pricey side, but is very concentrated). I've had a bottle for 6 months (using it once a week) and I do have a lot of hair.

I completely agree with Neutrogenia clarifying shampoo. I use it every now and again and it does clarify it.

We have 2 homes, 1 has allegedly better water (with a softener) and my hair does not like it. So if there's been any changes to your water, that could have an effect. I do rinse mine with bottled water (when using the softened water). About once a week or so, I will rinse mine with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water (it also helps balance the ph and clarifies).

@SuhseK  I have found some at TJ Maxx but still high. It is very good shampoo and conditioner.
