Very streaky, darker color. I read that you should put lotion on those areas before using any type of self tanner. Maybe I read it wrong. Just thought someone would have a suggestion. Sorry if my question was dumb.

Not at all!!! I've seen and heard the lotion tip many times, as well - but I personally have never found the extra step to be necessary. Like I said earlier, I exfoliate really well everyday with my Salux cloth. I then apply my St Tropez mousse directly onto my skin using the mitt. I do this at night, waiting for about 10 minutes prior to slipping in bed. (TMI - I sleep nude.) In the morning, I take another shower without exfoliating - then apply lotion immediately after getting out. I'm never streaky or patchy and I think the St Tropez gives a great natural color.

I believe the whole point of the lotion on the ankles and knees elbows etc is to minimize the tanner in those areas. rougher, dryer skin, hence the exfoliation, tends to grab more product

plc123 - maybe you should try the Tan Towels without the lotion, just once, to see what happens(?)

Hi pic123...I've used tan towels for about 12 years with no problem....i think the lotion might have been the cause of the streaks.....i've never applied lotion anywhere before using them.....I exfoliate in the shower (love the salux cloth that i learned about here), dry really good with a towel and use the tan towel, i can even get my back using the "full body size" and two hands (does take some work).....I would definitely give them another try!! Good luck, Spikey's Mom {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I have used Tan Towels for years and I too love them. I exfoliate pretty often. If I don't use the lotion, as suggested by some of you wonderful girls, the Tan Towel color grabs my feet and ankles and makes them much darker than my legs. No lotion on my legs or anywhere else befoe I apply them though. I also use surgical gloves while applying or I end up with brown hands. Yuck!! You have to be sure and rub them on in a circular motion and apply them as evenly as possible to get a good tan. Love it. I am tan right now and haven't stepped into the sun. I love my Tan Towels!!!
