I love the scent but just doesn't work well on my hair. Didn't Chaz say that it was rice not soy? I can't find anything as good as my POM. I'm still not sure about the BGT.
Is it rice?!
BGT is my favorite formula of all time (in the core series), but that would explain the absorption issue with FTP I was talking about since rice of any kind is porous and zaps up moisture!
There is a BiG difference between rice and rice protein, which is what is in BGT. There is also a BIG difference between uncooked rice and cooked rice after it has absorbed moisture. To say rice zaps up moisture and therefore rice based WEN formulas are drying is a wrong assumption. To add to that, BGT is rice based and you say your favorite - so even if FTP was rice based, your statement is incorrect.
I didn't find FTP to be drying, for me it was about the same as SAM or POM, neutral moisture, which is good for many. And I was happy it wasn't heavy on the spices. Pears are a fall fruit, so I understand the fall connection.
While I found the tone of your comment to be a bit condescending, I do appreciate the correction about rice.
I do still stand by my review, however - FTP was a nightmare for my hair. SAM and POM are fine for me and this was nowhere near the performance of either of those two formulas.
If I understand correctly, your business is beauty - as a beauty blogger. I was just surprised that you would not be aware of the ingredients of a product you reviewed.

Forgive me for not knowing the difference concretely - I was unsure of the base to begin with, which is why I wanted confirmation on whether or not it was rice based as soon as I saw that comment, because I thought it was soy based like previous seasonals.
In my reviews outside of this board I DO mention the base of Wen CC's, and I have not written one for FTP on my blog outside of the forum yet, but given the wealth of knowledge here I didn't feel it necessary to include it in my review on the board because most of you know more than me about the composition.
Does that make sense?

No problem HB!
I had been using WVM the week before I started FTP, and I can't wait for it to come back - talk about moisture!
And my hair loves formulas that are derived from the category in which oranges are grouped so I'm excited for the new winter formula as well

It is so interesting how difference our experience with FTP is, RyRy. Because I had been seeing mixed reviews, I opened my FTP bottle ahead of schedule in case I needed to return it. The short story is that my below the shoulders, curly, moisture craving, AA hair loves this formula. I know what you mean about the rinsing process: I can tell in that step if my hair is going to feel moisturized or dry (I flirted with Carol's Daughter products for a hot minute and remember my shock at how dehydrated my hair felt in the rinsing process).
I think the FTP fragrance is soft and pleasant -- my one complaint about SHP is the strong scent. Otherwise, these two seasonals have almost identical results for me.

Lucky! I'm so jealous - I love the scent so I was so upset when it ended up being a nightmare

OOPS, I ordered three different ones that day, so I was thinking that it was the pear that was rice but it was the bamboo.
I don't understand why some of the soy ones works well and others don't.
I did wash with the pear last night and my hair is dry not soft like the POM.

In your review you mention 8 pumps? Is that per cleanse or total? Are you using a 16 or a 32 oz? I would think 10 pumps minimum per cleanse for BSL hair would be a good starting point. Maybe you're just not using enough to get the full benefits?

I said 10 pumps from the 32oz. - that's the equivalent of at least 24 pumps from the 16oz.
I know how to use Wen and I know the pump amount that works for me - like I said, all formulas except this one are great for me, so I know it's the FTP and not my application.

I am sure it has to do with the other ingredients as to how the hair performs. Honestly the soy or wheat proteins are not that far up on the ingredients list to be the major impact on the hair, unless, of course, one is allergic to soy or wheat. Other ingredients can be more moisturizing, drying, etc.. So I think the performance of the soy based ones have more to do with the other ingredients and less so the soy. Same goes for the wheat and rice based ones.
