Let's say you leave your cc number with them.  You have your appointment marked on your calendar and plan on going.

What happens if you get very sick the night before and are in such bad shape from being sick, you can't go.  Rarely  has that happened to me and I am at my appointments when they are scheduled; however, if I have a sickness that requires me to stay home and keep my germs to myself or have to be close to a bathroom, I don't think it's fair for them to charge the card.

Thankfully, the gal who does our hair doesn't work that way.  She rents a space and when we go, we pay her by check plus the tip.

If that happened, I would call my hairdresser as soon as I could and explain as apologetically as I could.  If it wasn't habitual, I have every confidence, she would waive at least part of the charge.  I'm generally a conscientious customer.  I come in for my appointments on time with clean hair and a good attitude.  I tip generously and treat her with respect.

I can most definitely say that this person would not be my hair stylist.  I limit this sort of thing to doctor's offices and hotels.  Things can happen that you are unexpected and no one should be penalized for it.

I would have maybe a day or a period of time during the day to fit in some walk-ins.

The salon I go to now requires a credit card when you make the appointment too. Startled me when I made the first appointment then people told me it was not unusual.
