Would you have issue about a woman who was super - not thin, to the extreme, who seemed to under exercise, and be too unconcerned about calories?

It could send the wrong message to younger viewers.

I keep hoping we will get past body judging.

I don't care if they have credentials or not either.  I'll watch because I enjoy their content and find it a) useful b) entertaining or c) both.   I watch more YTers than I listed.  Those are just the skincare/makeup ones I'm subscribed to.

Re: SUGGESTIONS OF YOUTUBERS TO FOLLOW AND WHY

 I have never ever seen an ad on You Tube and I've been watching it for over 10 years.  In fact, I had no idea YT ads were a thing till my husband started watching YT on his phone about 3 years ago.  Here is why.  I've always had Ad block programs on my desktop computer and on my phone.  It's to keep from seeing all those ads on the side of my screen.  They're everywhere!  But, with an ad block app, that keeps them from popping up.  I didn't realize they were sometimes actually inserted in the videos (it keeps those from playing too).  Now creators have gotten smarter about ad blocks and they themselves advertise the product as part of their video.  If that happens and I'm not interested I just fast forward their vid.

@Peaches McPhee

I like her too Smiley Happy  She's calming and wise but after binging on her for weeks, I slowed down.  I am subscribed but have to be in a certain frame of mind to watch.  She's a lovely woman with wonderful photography and editing skills (one of my passions).  Plus she loves dogs.  I couldn't like a person that doesn't like dogs Smiley Surprised

@Drythe , her audience is very young and based on a lot of the comments young, impressionable teens. She is worshipped on ProAna sites and discussed often as triggering. She gives recipes and food suggestions which obviously promote purging etc. Her "What I Eat in a Day" videos were met with great controversy. Since she is a physician she is held to a higher standard ...perhaps that is why so many have called her out. In addition she blocks everyone that disagrees with her.

@monicakm , that's because they get paid from those ads.

I watch on the YT app my tv.  I get tons of ads that play before a video starts or in the middle of a video.  I have the option to pay to stop the videos but they are no more than 30 seconds so it doesn't bother me.

Re: SUGGESTIONS OF YOUTUBERS TO FOLLOW AND WHY

Great thread, @Shanus !   Lots of good suggestions here to check out.  Thanks everybody!

I don't care at all about credentials when watching makeup videos but I do with skincare.  I still like to watch them though and sometimes still get great suggestions.  But I gotta say, some of the best suggestions I've gotten are from the ladies on these boards.

@Shanus I have followed her for some time now and there have been many references to her suggested magnesium drink as a well known purging beverage. I feel for her but am conflicted knowing her suggestions are designed to influence a very vulnerable under 18 audience.
