SUGGESTIONS FOR SALON MANICURE...

I usually do my own nails...but unfortunately my dad fell and fractured his hip.  I'm running in every direction right now, and I'm looking frazzled, especially my nails.  In general my nails are horrible, and without polish or anything they just keep splitting, breaking, etc cuticles a mess.  I'm considering going to get them done.  I've had acrylics in the past, they last, but I hate the new growth I get within a week, and no manicure for hands.   I really don't like that drill tool either.

Any suggestions what else they could do that would include a manicure/hand care, and last at least 2 weeks.

Prices...I sometimes feel it's such a rip off, but ill put up with it for now.  I'm a tired mess right now😢...but dad doing great, came home day after surgery, up and walking with walker.  Getting nurse care and PT several days a week .  I really don't have time  do my own nails at home, and wait for them to dry, nor do I feel like doing them, but I would consider a stop at a salon and let them do it, might be nice for me.

@Dazlin Does your salon offer gel polish manicures? That polish lasts 14-21 days, but of course there is grow out at the base. I have them as a French manicure, they last and last...

@Dazlin my suggestion would be this because I have gone through dealing with after- acryllic nails. Get some Tips or any jojoba oil and paint on your peeling nails several times a day. File them down very short and watch them improve.

It is easy to want to cover them with acryllic but the appointments are time consuming, expensive, and damaging to your nails.

@gtx , my nails are kept short, and they're always damaged regardless.   I really don't feel like keeping up with my cuticles and the filing right now, but ill keep your suggestion in mind when I'm ready again.   Thanks!

@We rescue cats , yes they do Gel...I wonder if that would include a manicure. I'd have to ask.

@Dazlin I forgot to mention that I have learned that massaging the oil into nails and hands works well to make nails grow. That is my experience.

Best wishes to your dad and to you.

@Dazlin I am so sorry you are stressed like you are.  There are times in life when we just can't do it all and maybe that's where you are right now.

Keep your nails filed, put on oils and lotion and put it on the back burner for now.  I'm sure it isn't as bad as it looks to you, and concentrate now on the things you really need to do!  Give yourself a break and some breathing room!

Thoughts and prayers to you in this stressful stage of life!  You are being an angel to someone and it's a big job.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR SALON MANICURE...

@Dazlin Having been the main caretaker for my precious Dad for his last few years, I totally understand that this is not just about your nails growing in.

I used to go to get a manicure for the exact reason you should--a little respite from the day to day stress from watching your dad go through what he has.  It's absolutely wonderful that he's doing well and I wish the both of you the best possible outcome.

I get a gel manicure every 2 weeks.  Even though I keep my nail length just slightly above my fingertip, I love the way it looks.  You should get the powder gel and not the UV gel.  The powder gel isn't removed with the dremel.  They put remover on cotton and wrap each finger in foil for around 10 minutes and then it comes off.   Any gel manicure should come with the shaping, cuticle maintenance, etc.

Good luck!

@Dazlin

I've posted this before.  Had major trouble with 2 nails that started to ridge in the center and as the ridge reached the tip, it would flake off.  Alsways had beautiful natural nails and tried almost everything.

The following picture is a product I got at CVS: it worked within days of rubbing it in...even made the cuticles look decent.  Runs about $10.  Use every day if needed.

Make sure to get the shiny gold dropper bottle as the other matte gold with brush is more of a polish and results will not be the same.

[ Edited ]

@Tori3569 , I'm looking into it...actually I was turned off reading the risks and damage to the hands with the UV lamp.  I didn't know there was a gel powder...are you talking about acrylic dip?  You dip in a small pot of colored powder?   Everyone shares the same pot?

Thank you for your kind words 🥹
