Good afternoon, Everyone: Reading your posts is so encouraging to keep going. I'm looking at this like a diet. If you fall back, don't be too hard on yourself. Just pick yourself up and make a renewed effort. Every day you try and get through is one day that you were in control and that little spending bug was not. Squash the spending bug with your foot.
Keep up the good work. Your posts are inspirational.

I just spent what felt like forever, reading all of the posts that have been written since I posted on NY Eve. lol! I'm doing ok except for the 2 outfits that arrived yesterday. I had ordered them in December, and I am going to keep them. That will be it for clothes, etc. for a long while. I do need to get new undies in the next couple of months, though. Yes, a "need".
My current things are bordering on tacky.
I enjoyed reading how some have taken time to check their own closets when they see an outfit they really like, only to realize they can create it out of things from their own closets!
Also, when seeing the dollar amounts some have been saving here and there. As it all adds up quite quickly, to become several hundred dollars.
The phrase "to be mindful" keeps ringing in my ears. What a big difference it makes, to be mindful!

Today I have organized and downsized all of my makeup and the linen closet that had become the disaster closet! I have spent no $ this weekend, with the exception of a needed chiropractor appt yesterday. Hope everyone is doing well.....as Bill Murray said in the movie " What About Bob?"........."Baby steps!"
Holy Moly, WOW, you got a great head start to your organizing!
Good for you!
I wish I could do that as I stay up later than hubby, but he would have a fit if I was rummbling around waking him up

Hope everyone is hanging in there and feeling good about even considering to join this board!!!!On 1/4/2015 lucylover64 said: Happy Sunday! Back to work tomorrow -- everyone have a productive week!
Holiday décor packed up, but leaving up our Winter City lighted village throughout January. Looks lovely on our dining room window seat and our grandson asked that we leave it up.
Hey, I discovered you can cancel Q orders by going into status. First time to cancel. Ordered black pants today and immediately thought -- no, don't really need them yet. Losing weight and will order a smaller size later. Felt good.

After reading some of these posts, I blocked all of the shopping channels on my Directv. This should help if I'm surfing the channels, at least it's an attempt. I stopped watching the shopping channels a few years ago and it helped. I don't know why I started watching again. I also try my best to stay out of CVS, Walgreens, and Big Lots. They always have bargains and too many temptations for me. I am also going to pare down my pantry items and work on not having so much in reserve.

A number of you have expressed guilt at spending so much money. Most of us have been there at one point or another. To make some money back and reduce those guilt feelins, consider taking some of your clothing, purses, scarves, handbags etc to your local resale shop. As part of my organizing in 2014, in addition to donating a lot of items, I was able to make a few hundred dollars selling items through a local resale shop. Before taking anything in, check around to see what % you can make and the other "rules" your local shops have before deciding which one to use. Some are more upscale than others too so that may increase the amount you can make. I was pleasantly surprised that I made as much as I did and I put it right into savings.

I just got done going through this weeks' catalogs. I always shred the back page with my name and address and the order blank if it has any identifying information.
I didn't look inside any of them except one. And, I resisted ordering from the one I did look at. It is now, too, in the circular file.
Scotnovel, such a coincidence that you mentioned using a resale shop. I was just thinking of that this morning. I had a lot of nice clothing when I was working and find that I just don't need that many now. Someone who is in the work force may be interested in some of them.
We've made it to January 4!!!!
