Spent the last two weeks focusing on using my food stash, and not buying so much at the store. Have spent half of what I normally would just by using stuff on the pantry shelves.
Was a slug today, but tomorrow I'm going to tackle the desk in the bedroom. Why oh why do I save so many pieces of "paper" .....old receipts, programs from the grandkids' school activities, duplicate copies of pictures no one will ever look at, recipes I ripped from magazines that I will never make...the list goes on. I'm gonna be ruthless tomorrow!

We needed a new valve for our whole house humidifier. It's been flooding our basement!
Found it on ebay for $27. It was $70 on the manufacturer's website. Saved $40!
Doesn't it feel good to save money?

I do that too when I get close to the end of a bottle of shower gel. I returned a shower gel and lotion that I had received for a gift--scent gave me a headache. I'm going to start using some face creams I don't like as body creams too. I did order a clothing item from QVC. I also had to replenish aspirin, Tylenol and some other drugstore items from drugstore.com. Trying to stick to items I really need not just "want." Salvation Army took 7 boxes full last week.

Great job, ladies.
Edited to say, I just remembered I did buy a beauty item. Ugh. I thought I didn't buy in January. Amazing how these purchases creep in when you are not paying attention. Rationalization gets the best of me.‎01-12-2015 09:41 PM
Ladies, your a welcome inspiration! I just found your group. I'm ready to thin out several areas. I have a pile of clothes to go through tonight. Going to see what's worth donating, and what's trash. Step one. Wish me luck!

alicedee ~ I was so excited to read your post as I spent 4 hours today getting rid of "paper"!!
I still have more to do, maybe tomorrow, but it feels wonderful to have shed this pile of stuff! You are going to feel great once you start to purge the paper! I know what you mean about the accumulation of things you will never look at or use ~
Tomorrow is garbage night and I have so much that I'm saving some for next week's trash, but at least I've gone through it and "inked out" all pertinent info. I actually had every one of my pay stubs after working 34 years!!!!!!! Ridiculous
!!!
Anyway, I'm rooting for you to be RUTHLESS tomorrow ~ YOU GO GIRL!

I LOVE that this is weekly-just as I start to get diverted it pops back up and I refocus!
For me, week 3 was all about taking my Christmas decorations down and burning the tree. (real tree in an outdoor burn pot) I decorate the weekend after thanksgiving so I've enjoyed it thoroughly and am ready to take it all down. This year, after the kids took the ornaments off I went thru, sorted and made sure everything got packed like I like it! Next year will b easier I'm hoping! All the bins are back in the storage closet and the house is sparkling! Even washed the floors, pet beds and both dogs. It feels great!
The other big accomplishment was only buying what my kids needed (because I dont need anything!) at target-usually can't get out of the store under $100- only spent $24!! That was a great moment!
This month I will pay off the only two easy pays I had from Christmas, so I'm good!
