1. Hold make up  pencils loosely & far from bristles for a lighter application

2. Use tape placed from corner of eye to end of brow before shadow to give a clean line

3. To look more natural, crease shade should be only a few shades darker than

     complexion

4. White liner (fair/med. skin tone) & beige liner (med./dark) on inner lower eye rim enlarges/enhances eye shape

5. Foundation: use as sheer a coverage as possible. Then use skin tone correct

concealer in areas where more coverage is needed

6. Brows: use a pencil the color of the brow hair or a shade lighter. Follow w/ a brow

gel w/ fibers in a shade lighter to create dimension

7. If glasses slide on your nose or leave marks there, use your eye shadow primer in

the area the glasses hit...not face primer. Use minimal foundation & powder lightly w/

finely milled setting powder on nose

8. Damp makeup sponges can be sprayed w/ setting spray before using to apply

foundation for more longevity of makeup. Spraying the sponge w/ setting spray and pressing into skin after makeup takes away powdered look

9. Any eye liner pencil will apply more smoothly (& more like a gel liner) if heated w/ a

    lighter before application

10. Refrigerate eye and lip pencils for an hour before sharpening. I sharpen all pencils

the same day I wash brushes

11. Have 2 concealers...one shade of complexion for imperfections/redness and the

the other a shade lighter for under eyes, down center of nose, above cupid’s bow

and chin. The lighter shade can also be a non-shimmer highlight

12. Blush placement: higher than apples of cheeks while smiling...when stop smiling

(at our age), that “apple” lowers and drags face down. Stop blush under pupil of

eye about 2 fingers width from nose for a natural flush

13. Bronzer is a brownish red warm tone & applied between blush and contour. Contour shades are grayish taupe like a shadow on the face

 14. Eye shadow primer can be used around lips to prevent lipstick bleeding

15. Concealer: only apply triangle under eyes if younger...more chance of creases. Dot

it only on darker areas. If settles in lines, smoothe w/ a little face oil on brush.

16. Time Saver: apply moisturizer w/ foundation brush. Use same brush to apply

foundation for smoother finish. Use same brush (w/ foundation on it) to blend out

       edges of cream blush.

17. Glasses wearers: always set concealer w/ powder & curl lashes so don’t hit lenses.

       Use volumizing not lengthening mascara.

18. Lashes: heat curler w/ blow dryer to help curl last. Apply a light coating of setting

powder or shadow to lashes as primer to thicken lashes

19. Let products do double or triple duty: cream blush as shadow and lip color for

natural, uniform look. Brow pencil can be used as liner, brow shadow to set it.

Bronzer is perfect crease shade. Lipstick makes a great blush.

20. Have foundations & concealers matched at cosmetic counters if possible. Once

foundation shade is correct, all other face makeup looks more natural. If you have

to bring foundation down on neck to match it...wrong shade. If you have to use

too much bronzer to match face to chest/neck...wrong foundation shade.

My best advice is to try anything. Try any tips you read or see & make up your own.

Sometimes you want your makeup to look natural. Sometimes you want your makeup to be fun.

It's just makeup.

Some "rules" work for 90% of people, but they may not work for you.

Don't worry.

There is a lot of information out there. You find what works for you.

Keep your makeup & brushes clean & organized & use it & have fun with it!
