Return policy for expensive beauty products

I purchased the last Perricone TSV.  It was $200 and contained the Neuropeptide Facial Cream and Face Conformer.  It is a great value if you like the products.  They would be almost $700 if purchased separately.

We may differ on what we think is expensive!  But, I think this duo qualifies!!

Dermatologists say that it takes 7-8 weeks for skin to turn over, so products need time to see if they work for us.

I think products like this should be given a longer return policy.  30 days is nowhere near enough to be sure about this, and you're spending a lot of money.  I was going to return them just feeling I might get stuck with an expensive product that doesn't work.  60 days would make most of us feel better about waiting for results for this price.

My one complaint is packaging.  The cream ($240 regularly) is in a tube that it pours out too much of.  The consistency is on the thin side, so I often get too much.  The other product ($435) is in a bottle with a pump dispenser and NO CAP.  For that price??

Anyway, longer return policy.  Otherwise, I am not buying again.

Re: Return policy for expensive beauty products

I can see your point about wanting time to see results.  I can also see that Q might be worried about excessive returns of nearly empty products if the timeline were extended.  People could essentially use the product mostly up then return something nearly empty for a full refund.  That's not as easy to do on the current return timeline.

There has to be a point that a company isn't on the hook any longer for a refund, whether it is the Q or the manufacturer directly, and the customer assumes the responsibility.

Abput the packaging...did you contact Perricone directly?  That might be your best bet to express concern about delivery of the product, especially the tube, so they can deal with it quicker!

It shouldn't matter if a customer uses the product 3 times and returns or uses all of the product within 30 days.  The product has to be discarded either way.

I remember years ago when Victoria Principal had her line on QVC and she gave a 60 day bottom of the jar guarantee.

Re: Return policy for expensive beauty products

Q sometimes offers a longer return policy with something that takes a longer time to show results.  Today I watched the Hairmax, and the return policy was six months.  I thought that was good.

With creams, I think 30 days is fair.  Otherwise the people who keep the creams get to pay for those who use them for two months and decide to return?  After all, creams and lotions which are returned have to be thrown in the trash and can't be resold.

Do the math.

I wonder if some of these beauty companies bargain with negotiations on the length of the return policy? Why the discrepancy with that hair product and what the OP is talking about?

That would be a good question to ask.

Clearly it has to be discarded.  But why encourage the window shoppers that don't want to pay for skincare, but instead use and return?  Clearly that's not what the OP is referring to, but once that window is open, there will be those who will abuse it, causing potentially higher prices for others.

Since VP isn't on the Q any longer, I can't speak to how successful her strategy was.

I wouldn't buy products at that price if they don't have a longer return policy. Bottom of jar is the best. I know some may abuse the policy but results just don't happen that quickly regardless of claims.

Im lucky that the products I buy are reasonably priced and work - SSC, Josie and PTR.

Re: Return policy for expensive beauty products

You should post this suggestion under the "suggestion box" thread too. I think it is a great idea to give ALL skincare more like 45 or 60 day return policy, not just expensive ones, because it takes at least 4 weeks to start to begin to see any improvement.

I agree wth you 100%. I would say the number of returns of these expensive products was very high. It's too bad. I tried them for about 3 weeks and didn't really feel like I felt or saw an improvement so I returned them. I don't think that was nearly enough time to see a difference but that's all the time I had. Had I been allowed to keep them 6-8 weeks, I may have decided to keep them. I ordered them on auto-ship in case I liked them because I could never afford to get them any other way. Also they, not just Perricone, over sells the product. I know nothing works overnight but when they give the clinical data that say after 1 week people saw this, that or the other, that is misleading. Dana clearly said you will see an improvement instantly. The way she put the product on the model it did look really dramatic instantly. I think they should say you should see a difference in 4-6 weeks but that would by hampered by QVC's 30 day return policy.

Re: Return policy for expensive beauty products

If I buy it, I WANT to like it!  I think that's true for most of us.

I have read so many reviews where people state that they return things because they are afraid to give it longer due to return policy.  This is the first time I personally have had that exact thought.

Perricone and other expensive lines perhaps should give this some consideration.  Stand by your product if it is good enough to command such prices!

The one product costs $435 by itself outside of this TSV.  NO WAY would I buy that with only a 30 day return period.

Since they have to discard the product anyway if returned, they should try it.
