Retractable Baked Kabuki Brush vs. Retractable Brush

I have always used Laura's regular retractable brush for the balance n' brighten.
Caught a little of whatever show was on the other night and Laura was using bigger, fatter brush.
Which brush do you prefer? Is the bigger brush as soft as the smaller one?
I love the smaller one but wondering if the bigger one works even better (??)
