PTR is 1.5% , Consult Beaute Regenerol by Dr Dubrow is 3% and is buffered to be gentle on the skin, yet effective. It is the strongest OTC Retinol I have seen.

according to my physician, retinol otc is 20 times weaker than prescription retin a. i started using retin a for increased breakouts in my 50s, my pcp prescribed it when i requested it, and my insurance covers it at 10$ a tube. 10 years later, i am still having it prescribed because every now and then i will have a mild issue (2 pimples justifies it), so it's still appropriate for him to give it to me. it has kept every wrinkle at bay, and i use it on my neck and back of hands. i am very grateful. i hear all day chemist has great customer service, but i would question the chemical make up of their products. but that's just me.

@Katilein wrote:Yes I agree with the cost of the copays for docs visits. Especially that our insurance deductible is $3000 before I only pay $25 for a visit. So a visit to the dermatologist costs me about $200. I will look into MH a serum
@Katilein I’m not sure I understand costs for derm visits to get an RX. When I get my Retin A RX, there are 4 or 5 refills, when that runs out, my drugstore calls for another RX. I’m usually at the derm every 6 months for a full body check of moles, etc. She asks me if I need another RX or have enough refills.

in order for me to go see the dermatologist or any kind of doctor I have to pay for the cost of the doctor, which is usually $150. Once we meet our $3000 deductible I only pay $25 per visit. I can’t get a RX without seeing him and yes, once I’ve done that I’m sure I have some refills. That means I have to go see any kind of doctor about 25 times and pay an average of $150. My son had to ER last year in January and it cost us about $4000. Everything after that was covered and we only paid $15-$25 per doctors visit because our deductible was met.

@Katilein- I've never heard of a derm refusing to write a script for Retin A (tretinoin). Get a new derm or: Check out Curology's site. You can get the Retin A mixed in with a few other anti aging/ fading ingredients for 19.99 a month. There's no office visit fee and they're offering the first month free. curology.com.

@maestra Can you tell me which Retin A you purchased? The one that I saw was called Retino A cream .05 % 20 gm. by J&J. Thank you.

@San Antonio GalDo you use this? Like it? I just registered, trying to get to see more information and was blocked because curology isn't available in my state. Oh well.

@Shelbelle- Maybe I'm confusing you with someone else but I thought you were also using the Mad Hippie Vitamin A? Are you using the Regenerol now or did you just make this post as informational?
I was looking at the Regenerol products on the Evine website and for anyone interested there is a 3 pc. kit that includes a Regenerol 1.7 oz. face cream, 1 oz. eye cream, and a 2 oz. Regenerol face serum for $63 and change whereas the price of a single 2 oz. Regenerol face serum is close to $80. It sounds like a good deal for someone who uses all the products.

I'm just wondering what kind of expectation you had/have?
And what, if anything, you were using in conjunction with it?
Yes, about the converstion step retinol takes to form into retinoic acid. But from my understanding, this differs from individual to individual, and would be impossible to generalize. There are a whole host of things in play, and not just the condition of the skin.
If anything, I absolutely do not trust when someone advertises that they have 1.5% or 3% of pure retinol in their product, as though the higher percentage should equal effectiveness. (But this is a whole separate discussion.)
