Requesting Manicure/Pedicure Kit Recommendations

[ Edited ]

I have been thinking about getting something like the items below and would like to hear from those of you who have similar products. I found these on Amazon.

If you have and use something like this, what do you find to be the pros and cons, as opposed to just a regular file/emery board?

Seems like overkill to have so many attachments. Have you found that the basic attachments are sufficient? Is there a brand that is the best or one that I should stay away from?

Your feedback will be appreciated. So many to choose from on Amazon.

Those look like "grinding tools" for acrylic nails

@Desertdi  Oh!  Well, that shows you how little I know about it. ha!  Thanks for straightening me out on this. Smiley Happy

I'll check again tomorrow on Amazon for something that is specific for non-acrylic nails.

Being a harpist/pianist, I've tried every file known to man, including something like what you are showing. That was years ago. I discarded it as fast as I tried it. Which, doesn't necessarily mean that you will not like it.

Then I tried the Spa-rific nano laser set that Q was selling during the holidays. That is the simplest, cleanest, fastest file system ever! I've since thrown out all my emery & other files, and so happy that I made this purchase.

I would not be able to use any of those tools on my toes/nails---would end up wounded I think. And yes those look to be for professionals---I have a few nail files that work well for me and did get a callous removing type of thing that worked well but anything that can cut and poke is beyond my abilities. Maybe a basic manicure set that has stainless steel tools would be good. You need to be able to sterilize those things.

@Shelbelle.   Is that similar to this, which I am currently using? You can file any direction without doing damage.

Re: Requesting Manicure/Pedicure Kit Recommendations

I use a grinding tool on my husband's toenails.  His nails are thick and hard...too difficult to cut.  I don't have enough strength in my hands to use nail clippers on his nails so, I bought a heavy duty toe nail clipper and it works, but leaves ragged edges.

I would not use a grinder on natural finger nails and if used on toe nails, you need to be careful not to nick your skin.

You would almost need somone to grind your toe nails for you unless you are very flexible.

Those kits usually have nail polishers and cuticle pushers included.  They work great, but you need to use a light touch on natural nails or you could do some damage.

I like using a glass file on my nails. They don't damage and they last a long time, if you don't drop them.
