I just recently started using waterproof mascara (Clinique) and Purity wouldn't really take it off. So, I found an old bottle of Take the Day off makeup remover from Clinique that I received in a Gift with Purchase and it came off nicely but I noticed some lashes came out. I used a tissue and gently tried to rub off the mascara.

Does this normally happen? Granted, I don't know if I "lose" lashes when I remove regular mascara with purity because I rinse my face.

Thank you! Smiley Happy

Hard to tell, Bikkie, since its was only once. I normally don't lose lashes when removing. I like and often use Benefit They're Real and while not technically a waterproof it is a bugger to remove. I use Sephora's waterproof remover and am very happy with it. Maybe if the Take off the Day is very old you should toss it just to be safe. Also, you did use another product first so maybe everything just got a little harsh.

I have that mascara, too, and I agree it's harder to remove than others. Maybe I will buy a new bottle to see if that helps.

You can also try waterproof eyemakeup remover made by Lumene. It's sold at CVS. Works great!

Re: Removing Waterproof Mascara

Every night I use a very warm wash cloth that is one of the one's I received when you got maybe 20 in a package. They are the microfiber cloths. I don't use any soap on my face.

It gets all of the Maybelline Waterproof mascara off. I don't loose my eyelashes at all. I also have Clinique Creamy Eye Makeup Remover. Sometimes I use that. I have gotten really good over the years applying the Waterproof mascara, but when I do a boo boo I just take a Q-tip and put some of the Clinique remover on the end of the Q-tip and touch up the Boo Boos.

Anyway, that's what works for me. I also use waterproof rim liner. It gets all of it off. Sometimes if I'm not in the mood to use the rim liner I use Clinique Gell liner and put it on the upper lid.

Something I saw here and tried it was where you put the gel liner on the eyelash curler and then curl your eye lashes. It makes the base of the lashes darker. I didn't like it as much as my way. It is an alernative way though.

Klorane's ""Soothing Eye Makeup Remover with Cornflower Water"" is very effective and gentle.

Re: Removing Waterproof Mascara

If I'm just going to bed after I use baby oil-takes the mascara off easily. I also like LancĂ´me's eye makeup remover-it doesn't sting at all and takes everything off and doesn't leave a film. It's expensive though, so I sometimes will use the baby oil when I'm just going to bed and don't mind the slight film left behind. With the baby oil you can just use some toner or a washcloth after and get that film off too.

Re: Removing Waterproof Mascara

I have always used waterpoof mascara because I have allergies that make my eyes water. To remove it i use baby oil - one very small drop on my finger tip and lightly rub onto the mascara. leave it there oe a moment then just wash my face and off comes the mascara. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RUB IT OFF. Your lashes only break and come out because you rub them - just let the oil work for a slight moment and the mascara will wash right off. Also - you don't need to use so much baby oil it will make your eyes blurry. one tiny drop for both eyes will do the trick without getting blurry.
