Over the years, I have developed redness on different parts of my face.  I've tried a loose mineral green corrector and an under makeup green-tinted primer, both were disappointing. I do not like heavy face makeup, (heavy corrector and/or full coverage foundation) but I don't know what to try next.

I don't have rosacea, I checked that out with my derm. She said developing light redness in certain areas of the face can come with aging, particularly on someone with sensitive skin, that would be me. Any help, tips, product recommendations, successes or failures, please share with me. I appreciate your help.

I have mild rosacea, but not with the bumps.  I have a general ruddy complexion.  After trying soooo many products, makeups, etc. I broke down and had laser treatments.  ExcelV.  It was pricey, but less money than I've spent on products over the years.  I'm very happy with the results.  It's the only true fix for redness.  Now I make sure to wear sunscreen any time I leave the house since sun damage causes the redness.

I started out with mild redness here and there.  I have very fair skin -- always burn, never tan --- and it's easily irritated.  Over years, the redness increased.  I kept being told by derms. to just deal with it, it's your fair, sensitive skin.

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with rosacea and I do get blemishes with it.  Most discouraging!

I have tried so many of the green products, too, and I don't find any of them satisfactory.  Since I am older, heavy makeup does not work for me --- only accentuates fine lines ---- looks worse than the redness!

So, I just use a concealer stick on the red areas.  I currently like Cover Girl CG Smoothers.  I dab it on and then smooth it gently with a beauty blender.  I then use a light dusting of powder.  This covers the red areas, and does not involve using a heavy layer of makeup all over the face which you don't want or need.

Another product which is light and works pretty well is Laura Geller Balance & Brighten.  You can use it all over and you can also use a small brush to dab a bit more on the problem spots for more coverage.  Not heavy or masque like.

Re: Redness Correction

[ Edited ]

@youngjude @AngelPuppy1  has the right idea. Don't use a heavy foundation and spot conceal w/ a full coverage concealer. Try one w/ a yellow or peach tint instead of green. Green is difficult to blend and only a heavy layer covers and often still shows. Yellow shades are closer to skin tones. You can try some drugstore concealers, but color matching will be hit or miss. If the redness is a big issue, when you can get to a dept. store, let an artist at a makeup counter suggest a lightweight foundation and matching full coverage concealer...Tarte Shape Tape  comes to mind as one of my favorites for this. Use a lighter weight concealer that's a shade lighter for under eyes. Hope this helps...

I use and recommend IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness.  Works great for me!

I have the same issues with my very fair sensitive dry skin.

I use a very light foundation and concealer or dab of matching stick foundation on red areas only after the foundation, then a light blending with a soft foundation brush and it works perfectly.

A light setting powder keeps it all blended and gives an extra blurring effect, but again, everything very light.  You can always add more and blend if red starts peeking thru.

You will have to experiment to find the right products and shades that  work for you without aging you or looking overly made up.

For everyday and no foundation I use the Josie Maran concealer stick in Fair over a moisturized face on the red areas, under eyes, around lips, and blend like crazy with a soft brush, dust with light powder, and it looks perfect.  Not as polished and long lasting as my first suggestion but great for everyday and now at home.  HTH!

I have issues with redness. My favorite item to help with it is Dr. Jart tiger grass camo drops. It is a very lightweight product and does not do a heavy masking job. It cuts down the redness and gives me a more even skin tone. I use it as a primer under powder foundation (Laura Geller). I find 5 drop is enough. It is one of those pale green tinted products but it doesn't look green on the face due to how light it is,

@KKJ   I, too, swear by this IT product. I first used it when I had a serious fall and banged up my face. One of my daughters, who is an IT girl, gave me the rest of her jar and it covered all the marks. I have since bought three more jars, for myself and other daughters, and just ordered another.

I swear by this product. I have mild redness and dark sun spots that stubbornly resist any treatment, and this takes care of it for me.

Me too, can't do without it!  Have always had redness on and around my nose and this covers it beautifully. I need to order more as am running low.
