Re: Recommendations for a good, cheap, tubing mascara?

I purchased the Milani tubing mascara that has recently got a lot of hype.  It definitely lengthens my lashes, but it does not do anything for volume.  It also does not flake or smear.

@depglass  What is "tubing" mascara? All mascara comes in some kind of tube, right? I've never heard the phrase "tubing mascara."

What is the difference between tubing mascara and regular mascara?

While your average mascara may use oils or waxes, what a tubing mascara is made up of is a formula of polymers that wrap around each individual lash. When applying a tubing mascara, rather than painting layers of pigment onto the lashes, you are coating each individual lash with a 'tube' that won't budge.

Above post explains process far better than I can.  I discovered this tubing mascara years ago from some seller on HSN.  I think she was from Australia?  It wasn't cheap but at the time I liked the novelty.  Then I moved on to the next latest and greatest.

@Swedishmiss I know that's what happens with tubing mascara but I've heard that if you use an eyelash primer first, it helps to add volume.

What a great idea 😀

Thank you!  I will give it a try.

Also some may be tubing without advertising as such. Look for polymers high on the ingredients- acrylates copolymer is usually one of the first few ingredients. Clinique also makes one that I find at TJ maxx fairly frequently. I like it because the brush isn’t huge.

Good to know, @Fluke67.  The Clinique one is my favorite.
