I bought toothpaste that was SLS free. Ironically I can use retinol and my skin is perfectly fine no irritation whatsoever, go figure!

@Allthingsgirly67   I've used Retin A for many decades and also placed it above my lips. No lines...yet.

@Allthingsgirly67   If all else fails, a mixture of baking soda and water clean the teeth. It worked for our ancestors before toothpaste.

If your derm has prescribed medication then I would ask your derm about your skin issues.

You may be reacting to the mint flavoring in toothpaste and mouthwash. It triggers my acid reflux and makes my mouth burn. Finding a toothpaste without mint is difficult but worth the effort. Your lips will stop burning if mint is the irritant.

@On It  Me too.  I tried every toothpaste known to man but I found one and the mint is very light and does not burn.  It's called "Colgate Sensitive prevent & repair"  It even says "gentle mint" on the tube.

It saved me.

@Allthingsgirly67  I had a bout of swollen eyelids about 10 years ago.

Stay away from cortisone on the face.  This is a steroid but does not have the cortisone effect.  Regular wxcema cortisone cream on the face reddens it.

It cured me.  Burns a bit going on the first day or two but a few days later it was gone.  it's great.  Called "Elidel".

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

I've had to switch back to hypoallergenic for all my makeup. Try Clinique lipsticks and glosses as well as Almay, Physicians Formula (not sure PF has lipstick). You can google makeup or lipsticks that are hypoallergenic. There are a number of products on the market for us sensitive ladies that work.

I also think asking the derm would be the best option.

I think my best bet is to see an allergist and get to the bottom of this. Even if I wipe my mouth with a paper towel my lips get so dry and chapped and then the angular cheilitis kicks in🙁

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

I have a couple tinted lip balms from Beekman.  Maybe the goat milk would be gentler!
