I've wanted to try a red lipstick forever, but couldn't find the one I loved. I purchased Laura Mercier "Rouge Ultime". It has a hint of pink to it, so it's not too dark and looks perfect.

Anyone else afraid to try red, this may work for you.

Oh, @Shanus ! Why did you write this post?! I found another LM that I like better - the rose mauve. My mother always looked best in mauve tones, too.

(Tried to post a photo of yours & mine....)

In any of these deeper tones, I always apply with a brush because I think you can get a softer look that way. But I use a lip brush no matter what.

I guess I'm good, since I never had a LM lipstick before. These are described as: "weightless, high-impact long lasting color with a satin finish," which is what I like.

@Harpa   I've only worn it a few times, but blot it down so it doesn't smear when I take my mask off. I usually do love rosey/mauves as well. Is yours called Rose Mauve?

@Shanus, Yes. (I should have capitalized my letters.)

Good tip to blot!

it is so neat that you found a red that works for you!

I thought I had found perfect red with IT cosmetics "Ruby Slippers," but it has been discontinued.  I also loved MAC in MAC RED, but I no longer will buy MAC because they are not cruelty free.  Smiley Sad

Recently purchased Clinique "Cherry Pop" and, I think, its pretty darn red!  A little scary the first time I put it on.  I like it, its just a bit more than I'm used to wearing.  LOL  So what I will try next time is just to dab it on and blend it out and then maybe it won't seem so overwhelming.

@JudyL   If a lipstick seems too dark or too bright for me, I tone it down by blotting and/or adding one I'm more comfortable with on top....Then I take it down in stages. Sometimes I'm surprised that I can wear the original color.

@Shanus I have light skin with a yellow undertone. Does this lipstick have more of a blue undertone or more of a "bright" clear undertone?

THANKS!
