Last night I increased the amount of this that I normally put on. Does using more help?

Thanks

No. Applying more will only encourage irritation and it's also wasteful. Apply a thin, even layer each time to clean dry skin each night.

If you want more out of using tret then use a higher dose.

Re: Quick Tretinoin Question

Pea size for whole face...nothing on skin before. But even though I dont, its ok to use a moisturizer on top. I just wouldn't be piling on a bunch of other stuff.  While I have only paid $10 for a tube through derm script, I treat it like spun gold.

Remember, it takes 6 to 8 months before the texture of your skin looks better.  It's not a deep wrinkle eraser, it just improves the fine lines as it encourages cell turnover on your skin.  The longer you use it the better. It's been 10 years since I started using it so I honestly don't remember when I noticed my face looked creamier. I was using it for breakouts, but derm continues to give it to me as long as my insurance covers it, which it does.

I know we all want that wrinkle eraser but it just isnt there.  Except for going under the scalpel and sometimes folks look worse.

It will only cause irritation. Pea size amount is all you need!

Re: Quick Tretinoin Question

Is it true that this drug is banned in Europe for cosmetic use? What about some of the serious side effects listed...even neurological problems. It also thins the skin and make it more vulnerable to sunlight and damage. I rarely if ever read the downsides but a quick google is pretty enlightening.🥺

There are about 10 to 12 ingredients that EU does not allow for cosmetic use that are commonly used here in the US.  Even in trace amounts, EU has stricter guidelines.  These ingredients are common in your mascara, lipstick, eye shadow, eye liner, etc.  As long as most of us here have been using these products, I think we would have discovered a dreadful connection years ago.

In my head, the food you eat, the water you drink, the air you breathe is full of chemicals and you would have to live in a capsule not to be exposed.  I'm not worried about my tretinoin after 10 years of use. My skin is not thin and I rarely sunburn even when I don't have sunscreen on my face.

Skin thinning is a myth.  Retinoids build collagen, which actually thickens the skin.

Tret does both thinning and thickening of the skin. Thins the epidermis by inducing exfoliation leaving behind exposed new skin with varying degrees of damage to the skin's outer barrier. Tret thickens the dermis by inducing collagen formation.

Re: Quick Tretinoin Question

Personally I haven't had any serious side effects or any side effects at all. Not that I want them but it makes me wonder if this is even doing anything. I've tried using more of the product with still no unwanted side effects. Maybe I have a dud tube of it (g).

I emailed my doctor about prescribing me a stronger percentage but never heard back so I'm going to try again tomorrow.
