Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

I've heard that Rosehip Seed Oil is very good for the skin. I was wondering when to use it. Can it be used in combination with a Vitamin C serum in the morning? As a moisturizer? What about at night? I use Retin-A at night followed by CeraVe cream. Can it be used with these products? Please give me advice about this oil! Thanks.

Re: Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

Yes, to all of the above, depending on your skin (and perhaps the season for some who live where seasons change significantly). RHSO can replace your moisturizer or you can add a few drops to your current moisturizer if you need to amp it up. You can apply it over your Vitamin C serum or your Retin-A, but ease into it and observe how your skin reacts. If a little of something it good, a lot isn't necessarily better.

I agree w/ JLF, except that I don't think any oil - by itself - really replaces a moisturizer. A moisturizer needs 2 things: something to draw the moisture to your skin, and something to protect. The oil (any oil) will do the protecting part.

Re: Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

I can tell you what I use every night & love it! Its Aubrey's revitalizing Therapy Serum. Its Rosa Mosqueta Rose Hip Seed Oil, that is more of an intenive antioxidant. Altho I have normal skin, this is for dry skin. It sinks right into the skin & makes the skin feel so soft & silky. I don't use Aubrey Products but the Serum is a winner! Yes it can be used day & night. But when starting a new product, as you must know, test it first & gradually work it into your routine.

Re: Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

RSO was the first oil I ever used on my skin and I LOVED it. Still do, but I've mostly transitioned to using only Argan. I loved it dotted in and around my eyes every night, but I pretty much used it at any time of the day or evening. There's a line called Trilogy (originated in NZ) that bases their entire line on RSO. There are some great products within the line. However, they've gotten harder to find in recent years.

I also love RHSO and use it mixed with my moisturizer during the day and then at night combined with another infusion as my serum. Am 60 and my skin looks pretty darn good. There is a website called "" the organic witch"" that has alot of info on all types of these things. Just add the usual w""s and .com

Re: Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

Tried these 2 brands so far:

Now Foods - light, sinks in fast. Wish it had a dropper. $5.34/1 oz. at iherb.com

Life Flo Health - thicker and darker (more yellow) than Now. Feels too heavy, so will use it up and try another brand. Has a dropper. Wanted to try and found at Vitamin Shoppe, so was easier than ordering online. less than $7/1 oz.

Nice surprise - Found that my little jowls have gotten smaller (4 months using rhso and vitamin c serum). Just noticed. No weight loss (darn LOL), so I'm attributing this to these products. I think they're supposed to promote collagen production and firming.

Re: Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

I love it. I apply a rose water just at night, then top with RHSO. If my skin is really dry, I'll apply a moisturizer on top. I will also mix a drop in with my facial serums in the am if I need a little extra boost. I apply my Vit C or retin-a first, let them set for 15 (Vit c) or 30 (retin a) minutes, then apply the RHSO.

Re: Questions about Rosehip Seed Oil

If you go to ASDM Beverly Hills they sell Rose Hip Oil but what I liked was the breakdown of how it works. It was very informative. Even if you don't buy from them the information is great.
