Question re: Trader Joe's Argan Oil

I recently purchased Trader Joe's Argan Oil, and mine has a distinct chemical odor.  Has anyone else has noticed this? Neither the box or bottle indicate that it is first cold-pressed so I wrote to them asking if it was first cold-pressed -- they replied that it was.  I've never had an argan oil that has a chemical odor.  They are either odorless or have a very slight "nutty" scent.

I get better results from the Trader Joes Jojoba oil. Love it and use it every night.

Re: Question re: Trader Joe's Argan Oil

I bought a bottle of this in May and have used about 1/3 of it.  There's a slight scent if I put the bottle close to my nose but otherwise, it's odorless.

Trader Joe's is very good about taking a product back.  Maybe return it and try another bottle.

Re: Question re: Trader Joe's Argan Oil

I bought a bottle of this over the weekend.  I didn't think it had an odor, but after reading your post, I checked again.  There is a very faint odor.  I don't know what it smells like.  I also noticed, after I opened it, that it doesn't say cold pressed, or first cold pressed.  I'm assuming that it isn't, and that's disappointing.  My mistake.

I do find that it absorbs quickly.  Don't know if I'm getting any benefit from it, though.

Re: Question re: Trader Joe's Argan Oil

Thank you.  I must say that my bottle has a very strong chemical smell -- it's noticeable as soon as I open it and set it on the counter. To me, the odor reminds me of paint thinner, nail polish remover, or something similar.  I'll try to find my receipt and return it as I don't think I should be putting it on my skin.

Re: Question re: Trader Joe's Argan Oil

@ItsME  I contacted their customer service via email and was assured that it was first cold-pressed.

@RedRedHair  Thanks for that!  I appreciate the information.  They really ought to put it on the label!

@ItsME Josie Maran's argan oil does not say "cold pressed" on the label either, although she claims it is, so I wouldn't assume because the box or label doesn't say it that it isn't.
