I was wondering if your hairdresser cuts your hair first, then puts in your highlights after. I am changing my hair style but need new highlights. My hairdresser always puts the highlights in first, and then cuts. Since I pay for the highlights I hate to see them being cut away !

Mine always puts in the highlights first. He foils me, but I've noticed he doesn't put highlights on the ends. I think he always keeps in mind that he'll be cutting, so it's not an issue anyway.

My hairdresser does the same thing. Don't feel bad about the highlights getting cut off as long as your finished haircut looks good.

Foil first, then cut. She doesn't go all the way down every time. That can be damaging to your hair.

First, cut; then color.

When you cut after coloring, it leads to a more natural look in the low lights/highlights. It also removes any damaged ends, and gives the new color a healthier look. When it is done right, LOL!
