I have started using Wen exlusively in the last 3 or 4 months; however, my scalp is feelling dry and a little flaky.  Also, seems like there is a slight build up on scalp.  Would you advise doing a cleansing with shampoo?  I have some Aveda shampoo which I was using previously and thiinking about a shampoo and then Wen next as a conditioner.  Thinking I may need to do this every few months since I do use hairspray and products on my hair.

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

@patticakes I think using the Aveeda is a great idea to clarify whenever you need it. I am a longtime WEN user. I wash my hair daily with WEN and clarify weekly with a shampoo and deep conditioner, that's what works best for me. I hope you find what works best for you.

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

Try it and see what happens.  There is no harm in experimenting.

Have you previously used another shampoo with WEN and been satisfied?  I've used WEN for years but never exclusively.  I've never used any brand of hair product exclusively, I've always rotated.

I use very few ancillary hair products, but the ones I do use are all WEN so I have no problem with the cleansing conditioners removing them fully.

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

@patticakes    I am a Wen user.  I do not have any scalp dryness or itchiness.  It may be the hair products and hair sprays.  Most contain alcohol which  can dry out your scalp.

@patticakes  -  I have been using Wen exclusively for over 12 years now.  I've never had flakes or build up.  However, I would think any type of clarifying shampoo would work for you.

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

I've used WEN only since it's been on the Q.  However I don't use any other products.  You do have to make sure you rinse your scalp thoroughly.   Do you think your water pressure is high enough?  Are you rinsing long enough?

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

@patticakes

Cucumber Aloe Wen has been called a clarifying cleanse by Chaz.

Fig the most moisturizing...but may be a bit heavy for super fine hair.

Followed by Honey and some of the other specialty seasonals for moisture.

However, I have heard Chaz teach that his oils are the best scalp treaments.

I do this to treat my scalp every couple weeks, but I do rinse like crazy.

I agree, your other products may be the issue.  I sometimes had build up using other hair sprays etc....so I stopped a LONG time ago!

I only use WEN hair spray and WEN mousse.  He also has Replenishing Mist Treatments, but in all honesty, I don't care for it.  Makes my hair sticky!

Good luck!

@patticakes

And this is why it's sometimes so hard to answer questions like this.

What works for one person, doesn't work for another.

I absolutely love the Replenishing Treatment Mists!  I get no stickiness, just soft and silky hair.

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

Actually you can try using Wen TT CC as your clarifying cleanse of the scalp.
and then whatever other CC you are using for hair.

Re: Question for Wen Users Only

You do need a different shampoo then Wen to clarify your hair and unclog the pores on your scalp. You need to get all those oils, silicones and creams off .  You see how much it slows or clogs the drains.  Not matter tiltle Chaz gives the name of the product he has to many oils, creams and silicones. I totally quit Wen it was not worth it.
