Question for PMD users

I ordered the PMD when it was as TSV or special offer recently and I have a question. Do I have to see a pile of dead skin dust for it to be working? When I use it, I don't see that it is taking off any dead skin however my skin does feel soft after I use it. I really don't get anything if I have used the Clarisonic first. Also, how long does one of the sanding heads last? I'm just wondering if I should just use the Clarisonic and return the PMD? Thanks for any insight!
