Question about using a brush to apply foundation.....

I've always wondered this................when using a brush such as a stipling blush, all the tutorial videos show how it's important it is to blend the foundation in well.....when blending it in, aren't you wiping off all the sunscreen and primer you just slathered on? Think about it, when blending it in, all the sunscreen and such comes off and is picked up in the bristle of the brush? It just seems all the rotating and blendng is wiping off everything.......please share your thoughts.....
