I'm using The Ordinary 10% lactic acid serum twice a week, and it seems to be going well.

When my cleanser runs out I'm interested in a pomegranate cleanser from Korres which is suppose to help pores and is gentle. However, the cleanser has lactic acid in it among other ingredients to help the skin.

My question is if using the lactic acid serum and cleanser with lactic acid would be too much? I've read that although lactic acid is helpful it can also cause irritation if overdone.

I couldn't find many answers on the internet.

Re: Question about lactic acid

@teganslaw  I'd say no.  I usually don't consider ingredients in a cleanser as carrying too much weight because they're on the skin for such a short amount of time and rinsed off.  Also, I use The Ordinary Lactic Acid daily with no negative issues.  I don't use it straight, I add a few drops to my AM moisturizer.

Re: Question about lactic acid

I agree with the other posters.  Cleanser isn't on our skin long enough so think you should be fine.  I'm using a cleanser with salisylic (sp?) acid in it and then use Paula's Choice BHA toner afterwards every morning and have no issues so think it should be the same for the lactic acid.

@JudyL    I love Paula's Choice products and have been using them for years.  I get lots of compliments on my skin.  Her products are very effective.

@Teddixat - I agree and used to use many of her products.  Unfortunately, cost became a factor so cut back on many of the products I used to use.  There is 1 that I won't be without.  What I'm trying now was on sale so thought why not try it.

Re: Question about lactic acid

The amount of acids used in cleansers is usually low enough to not cause any issues. But for people with sensitive skin, meaning their skin barrier is already compromised from one reason or another, using acid cleansers might be best used alternatively with a mild cleanser during the other days.

Applying acid serums after using acid cleansers is fine just as long as there's no irritation.

Re: Question about lactic acid

I appreciate all the responses and will plan on getting the Korres cleanser later. I use The Ordinary lactic acid at night twice weekly right before bed. I wash my face when I shower, so the products wouldn't be used at the exact sme time. I shouldn't have a problem with both.

@JudyL , @Teddixat , I just started the toner and peel, from Paula's Choice,  I can't comment on results yet, just started this week.   The only complaint right now is, how small the sizes are for the price.  Peel is only 1 Oz, and the toner is only 3 Oz.  I don't think I ever had a toner smaller than 6-8 Oz from other lines.  Kinda disappointed that I didn't catch that while ordering.
