Hmm, that's interesting.  Never thought about it before.  I have short hair & I usually just pat a towel on it to stop the dripping, then I comb it into place & air dry.

That's really smart, since it's damaging to be rough with fragile wet hair.

A microfiber towel or microfiber hair turban, along with an old T-shirt, are recommended by hair pros.

I leave it in the towel about 10 minutes while I apply moisturizer, etc.  Then I spritz with detangler ( I use Ojon Revitalizing Mist) and comb out.  I do a few more get-ready things and a few minutes later I blow it dry.

(My hair does not get all the way dry by itself in a couple of hours.)

Exactly.

It's much healthier for your hair and scalp to blow-dry when it's damp,  not wet.

Less time-consuming, too.

I couldn't possibly get a comb through my wet hair......it's coarse and wavy

Have you tried the following? :

* brushing or combing your hair thoroughly before you wash it

* regularly using a conditioner on the lower 2/3 of your hair plus  a deep conditioner on the ends, and letting them 'sink in' for 2-3 minutes

* then, applying a detangling spray or leave-in conditioner spray

* then, using a wide-tooth detangling comb from the ends  on up

* applying a hair mask once or twice a week, then covering your hair with a shower or processing cap for the directed amount of time

(the heat from your scalp will help the product penetrate more deeply)

These all really do help; give 'em a try!  Cat Tongue

I have short hair.  It's baby fine and will sit flat to my head if I brush/comb it out too much.  I use KMS sea salt spray (my miracle worker) and then  use a comb to add my semi-part and fix the cowlick at my crown.  But a comb/brush will not touch my hair after that.  I use my fingers to dry and style it.  It works great for my short semi-messy style.

Using a comb or brush on your hair after it's dry is a sure-fire way to pull the life and body out of it.

Same here, and I always air-dry my own baby-fine (& wavy) hair to keep it healthy and add some texture.

I use a thickening/volumizing mousse after detangling it, but if your sea spray isn't too drying I'll have to try it sometime.
