Re: Question about Amazon Prime

It's also important to read reviews on some of these sellers. They will tell you that the seller substitutes the item for something else. So you will see the picture of the item and description and then receive something similar but not the exact item you are looking for.

The most recent one I saw was the 3M Scotch Brand lint rollers. They were substituting with Scotch Brite.

You really have to do your homework.

Re: Question about Amazon Prime

NOT ALL 'stuff'.... You can do searches for an item, and on the left side is a box you can check that says "Prime Eligible" .... sometimes a 'Prime' item will tell you: 'this item is available at a lower price from a non-Prime vendor' and there will be a link to it, then you choose to pay their shipping etc... Most things ARE available for "Prime" ... a few years back we wanted a new gasoline powered lawn edger....lo and behold the one we wanted was available for "Prime" (free 2-day shipping) OR pay an additional 3.99 and get it next day - we chose to pay the 3.99...and there it was the next day in its huge box. We love Amazon Prime, have had it since its beginning BUT the misconception is that EVERYTHING ships Prime.... NOT SO

{#emotions_dlg.w00t} I LOVE AMAZON PRIME - Heck, I love Amazon everything!! Did I say I love Amazon?......hahaaa....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Honestly I don't know what I'd do without Amazon...they even have their OWN delivery guy / service for the Prime. Their delivery beats by far USP, USPS, and FED EX. Always on time, 2 days and placed in front of my door. He does a little 'knock' to let me know. Many things have free shipping. Not just Prime. It might say Sold by Company ABC and 'fulfilled' by Amazon, so that too qualifies for the fast 2 day free shipping. All things which come directly from Amazon are 2 day free shipping also.

There are other companies who sell on Amazon which offer free shipping but the wait may be longer. I'm fine with that. The packaging is great and well done. Nothing is broken. Prices are low already, a lot to chose from in every category and just sheer joy to buy from. I trust them.......that is saying a lot in these days. I depend on them and they never fail me.

Amazon is the most professional and affordable company I've found to work with on line so far. I pay $79 a year for prime now and I will remain a loyal customer even "if" they do raise their prime $20 or even $40 more. Their CS is fantastic. They offer other specials and auto delivery too.....

I agree with you... We've had it since it began, and wrote a reply just above... my favorite is when they use LazerShip....they ALWAYS get Prime items here 'next day' without paying the 3.99 charge... Amazon is fantastic and has great return policies (although in many years I think I've used it ONCE) ...and AMAZON PRIME CAN'T BE BEAT... QVC should learn..... and I can't understand all of the negative remarks...

Also if you are a Prime member you can add friends onto you Prime acct. My son subscribes to Amazon Prime and added me onto his acct and I get to use it for FREE. I think they allowed 5 (?) friends for free. Didn't know if anyone knew about this.

We share our Prime account also. It's a GREAT deal when many people can use if for the same cost!

My understanding is that 'family' can use it....friends??? don't think so

Re: Question about Amazon Prime

I was considering Prime, but then they started taking it away on smaller items and made them Add On items. A lot of what I buy is Subscribe & Save and it's not available on that. I've been with them from the start and they have been taking away all the perks little by little. First it was $25 off a $100 order, then $25 off a $125 order. Then buy three get one free on a group of items, then free Subscribe & Save shipping, then free Subscribe & Save shipping one day a month. They are so profitable but they keep taking away all the nice things that got them there!!! A lot of their prices are also higher than elsewhere, and their Prime items a lot of the time has the shipping factored into the cost.

Re: Question about Amazon Prime

With all the benefits you get from Amazon Prime, it's amazing it's only $79 a year. Just the shipping alone is fabulous, especially if you shop there a lot, but then the extras such as Kindle and streaming, etc., it really is a fabulous deal. When you consider how few orders you'd have to place here (QVC) to reach $79 in s&h fees, it makes it all the more appealing. Plus they have never once raised the price of Prime yet every type of shipping source (UPS, USPS, etc) have all had numerous price hikes throughout those years.

It's really a wonder that they haven't raised it before now as that has to be impacting their bottom line. Such a difference in business philosophies from QVC to Amazon ........... QVC makes millions from charging s&h on every single item purchased, even if 10 items are ordered at the same time (and orders arrive when they arrive) yet Amazon has Prime with a 2 day guarantee, free shipping on anything above $35, a great Subscribe and Save program and the list goes on and on.

I'd say Amazon customers benefit pretty darn well with Prime.

Re: Question about Amazon Prime

Yes, it's supposed to, anyway. This week here in the East the weather has been nutty so I just got a notice that something I ordered may not arrive during that 2-day window. I really like how they communicate this stuff. Smiley Happy

Re: Question about Amazon Prime

I only purchase PRIME ELIGIBLE items. I also only purchase from Amazon as the seller. They shipped the wrong item that I had planned on taking along on an overseas trip. When I contacted their online chat they called me, immediately shipped out the correct item "next day delivery" and sent a home pickup for the wrong item. They have great customer service!

I don't use their video streaming services but that is a few of the perks of the Prime membership.

Another thing that I just recently discovered is that if you make all your purchases through their http://smile.amazon.com/ you can choose a non-profit that they will donate a percentage of your purchase. I know that it's most likely a small percentage but if enough people do it each time they shop amazon through SMILE, it can add up, little by little. My donation goes to the French Bulldog Rescue Network.

So PLEASE, sign into Amazon through smile.amazon, always shop through smile.amazon and hopefully all your purchases will be "smile eligible". Smile

Hahaha. That would be great, but QVC would probably charge at least $400 for that! QVC is in the business of making a profit and Amazon has yet to make an actual profit.

Re: Question about Amazon Prime

I had Prime & did not renew. Everything I wanted to order was from a third party & said it was not eligible for free shipping.
