Quality difference between full size and travel size mascaras?

I'm a member of another beauty board and the topic has recently come up about differences in quality between travel size and full size mascaras.  Several people said they loved the travel size and when they bought the full size they didn't care for it and felt it was a lesser quality than the travel size.  Has anyone here experienced that?  The particular mascara being discussed was Benefit's Roller Lash, but I've seen this issue mentioned with other brands, as well.

I have seen that mentioned before. The only thing I can think of is maybe there is more air getting into the tube. Maybe a person pumps the wand more on a full size tube.  Mascara dries out so fast I like travel sizes. I feel I don’t waste any product.
