Re: QVC and HSN raises shipping on beauty .

I placed a cosmetic order at Macy's online today.  15% off and free shipping plus I get Macy's points for a discount on future purchase.    I ordered 2 items so if it was QVC that would have been no discount and $7.00 for shipping.

The lines between the two channels are definitely blurred at best.

There is no “line” anymore since they merged into 1 company (more or less).

But psychologically, it’s good for business to keep the 2 channels apart,

because the customer assumes they are competing with each other...

when in reality, they are the same company.

The Q caters to a certain type of customer, as does HSN.

Imo, hsn always looked like it was filmed in someone’s garage, very plain and lots of empty space.

Whereas qvc’s Sets are gorgeous, filled with furniture and other cozy looking objects.

One thing though, HSN knows what CLEARANCE PRICING IS.!

They constantly keep moving products...

3-months after a tv presentation, the item goes On Sale and flex-pays.

3-months after that it’s on Clearance, flex-pays  and Free s/h!

Very rarely can you go back too far and find an item, unless it’s a size 0 or some strange color! lol

Otoh, the Q takes $1 off, puts it on easy-pay and keeps it In Stock for YEARS.

I Know this is true from actual experience.

The Q will SQUEEZE EVERY CENT from an item by keeping Every. Last. One.

at close to full price....forever.

Now, as for Evine...

I look at Evine as the Training Wheels for vendors/Hosts/products.

This is where you can mess up, make mistakes, practice your presentations

and positions.....and not suffer repercussions.

Of course, the majority of products, etc., stay on Evine. I’m not sure “why”, since the audience is a fraction in amount....maybe the vendor gets to keep a higher percentage

of the profit per unit..

Not only that, but some new businesses aren’t ready to handle thousands of Orders and others are actually  fine with having a smaller, manageable business they can build up slowly over time.

I only watch  Consulte Beauty there, although I used to watch Dimitri.

He can’t be quite himself on hsn....

Do you ever just have Shop TV running in the background, and not watch?

Its *white noise*!

ON topic (finally), the Q used to give half-priced on s/h ...but only if the

ITEMS WERE EXACTLY THE SAME. Ridiculous.

Two different shirts meant 2 separate S/H fees. ( but I’ll bet both came in 1 box!)

Ive been seeing $2.99 on Evine and often Free on hsn.

If the Q  ever has free/discounted S/H.....the products price increases!

My problem is that it's PER ITEM. Sorry. Nope. No way am I paying $13 for SHIPPING for 4 items that would cost me $3 or be FREE from another site. I think this is where QVC/HSN is failing in a big way; why pay for something when it's free or MUCH cheaper everywhere else?

And some states charge sales tax for the shipping charges as well which is absolutely outrageous.  I guess I'm either going to shop a lot less online or buy in store locally.

Sorry QVC, but these shipping charges need to change if you want to keep smart customers who know they can get free shippiing everywhere!  I can get most items with free shipping and won’t pay $3,50 or ever buy shoes with those high charges!

Why doesn’t HSN & QVC become one shopping channel........they are having a lot of crossover with products. It doesn’t make sense. For example: Too Faced, Urban Decay, Tweak-d, NuFACE, just to name a few.

I think they are trying to corner the market to charge whatever they want for things (like Amazon). I’m trying to shop more brick and mortar stores so they don’t go out of business because then we are screwed and have to pay higher prices.

If their shipping does change their prices will go up.

That will wake up more customers to comparison shopping.  Not sure why that hasn't already happened.  Sometimes QVC is the best overall price, but quite often I can easily find a better value elsewhere.
