Re: QVC -Tears us down in the guise of building us up?

I hear what y'all are saying.  I personally don't take it to heart - at all.  I wear makeup about once a month and use 3 products - day, night & eye.  What they say doesn't affect me personally, at all.

But, as someone who has always spoken up, I just think the incessant picking of the before photo and the increasingly dehumanizing descriptors, it's all just too much.  Tone it down is all I'm saying. Be nice!  And don't claim to "build us up" while doing just the opposite.

I was trying to get my mind off of losing our sweet girl - trying to listen to something mind numbing while working out:

And was really appalled by what I was hearing.  That's it.

Thanks to all for the replies.

@Imaoldhippie  I think you missed my point.  I have no problem with before and after photos, I think they can be very helpful.

It's the picking apart of the before photo and the dehumanizing descriptors that I object to.

And, then to do it under the guise of lifting us up!

On one hand, you are beautiful just as you are - love who you are!  But, do you have 11's, nasolabial folds, wrinkles on your forehead, 3 dimensional fatty pads under your eyes, reptiley skin under your eyes?  If so, use these products and then (and only then?) can you be confident in how you look and love who you are.

I'm not trying to argue, just clarify.  Thanks for the input.  I too am an old hippie!

Re: QVC -Tears us down in the guise of building us up?

Is that the 50 and Fabulous show?  I watched the beginning of one of those shows once and was totally turned off by just the beginning of it.  It sounded more like 50 and Falling Apart as they listed all sorts of things that was wrong with them.  They hadn't even gotten to any products yet.  By the title, I would expect some uplifting talk before getting down to business instead of complaints about the aging process.  So, I guess we won't be fabulous unless we buy all those products.

@AngelPuppy1  Amen, sister!

I'm really sorry to hear you say that you don't have much self esteem and confidence.  Just from the tag line on your post I am surprised to hear that!

I agree 100% with you - positivity is what we need and I hope everyday is full of good things and positivity!

And, your name - AngelPuppy - love it!

Oh my word, to heck with the QVC nonsense. More importantly I am sooooo sorry for your loss. Your girl is and always will be precious! Would you mind sharing her name? I'm a crazy dog lover and I know the pain...it is the absolute worst.

One thing is for sure about dogs, they never tear us down but rather are always bringing us up during the time we share with them. Again, my sincere condolences to you. I send a big hug from my dog loving heart to yours.

Re: QVC -Tears us down in the guise of building us up?

@PansyBoo Thank you so much!

Her name is Yetta and she was the sweetest, silliest girl who was only 9 1/2 when she passed with congestive heart failure.  It was a very tough 10 months for her - so many meds, which she hated, she didn't want to eat and then hospitalized 3 weeks ago when she was in heart failure.  Such a trooper!  We still can't believe she's gone and will miss her every day, forever.

Yetta loved playing with the ball!  So, my husband figured out the only way to get her to eat: reward her for eating a piece of food by tossing the ball to her.  It worked - until it didn't . . .

When she was much younger, we bought her one of those machines where the dog drops the ball into a hole and the "machine" throws the ball out to her.  We tried and tried to get her to drop the ball in but she would not do it.  So, we eventually returned it.

BUT, from that time on, whenever we opened up a cardboard box, she would run, get a ball and drop it in!  Oy!  Such a silly girl!

Thanks again for your kind words.

I wouldn't say she was candid about her surgery. I recall her appearing on QVC looking so different, that everyone kept posting about it and after that she talked about needing some type of medical surgery on her nose, if I recall correctly. She also talked about a couple other little tweaks, but it was very obvious that she had more than that done. Hair products obviously don't cause your wrinkles and sagging to disappear, or else she wouldn't have had so much work done.

Thanks for filling in the details on the eye thing, as i had fogotten them!

It is not gone at midnight ma'am? It stays in the minds of people, as not everyone has the same state of mind. She has a point, it is the beauty industry once again putting women down. Your comment made sense the first couple of sentences, then you put her down by saying "relax...."  Quite a petulant attitude.  It is not you, it is the attitude expressed by the last comment.

I have read many posts on this forum that mention Dr. Denese and her candid reporting that she needed some surgery and decided to also have tweaking done while undergoing the needed procedure.

Several years ago, she was candid about the eye surgery. It is obvious that she has had much more than "tweaking" since then. Why not be candid about all of her procedures, when she presents products?

I'm not sure it's relevant what procedures Dr D has or hasn't had ... UNLESS she is using herself as the Before and After examples to sell a product.

Yes, she was right to be forthcoming about her surgical procedures.  However, if she's talking about a night cream or foundation, her personal surgeries are irrelevant.
