Re: QVC Expensive return policy!

When you mail items together they only charge one return shipping cost.

@beautydiva I do think they should make exceptions for people that don't return on a reg. basis and they are out there. I am assuming that you don't return on a reg basis so if so, it makes it difficult for people like you to return a product. But they have so many returns, & I can see why they charge compared to some dept.stores. I buy on the Q, as far as foundation, I would have to try it out in a dept. store, Ulta or Sephora first, then wait for a value. If they don't sell a product in-store that I like, I just pass. I did it in the past & was always disapointed.

Feel this way?    For cosmetics - not really.  QVC can not resell a bottle (or whatever the container) because (pardon the description)  you have stuck your finger in it - applied to your skin - and perhaps handled the product again.   Federal and health laws would frown on the Q reselling to another customer - so that container is a total loss to the seller.  Suggestion:  go to cosmetic section at dept store where they have samples.

Actually, I believe the retailer returns cosmetics that are returned to them to the manufacturer. Lord only knows what they do with them.

@Zoro, I have to disagree that most retailers offer free s&h.  I do a lot of online/catalog shopping and browsing around, and conclude that overwhelmingly most charge something for shipping and there is some cost to the customer attached to returning. I can think of about 3 or 4 which have free delivery s&h and offer free returns.  In terms of delivery charges, QVC is actually on the low end.  Several have minimum rates starting at around ($7.95, $9.95). The overwhelming majority of retailers charge the customer for using prepaid return labels.  Of course you can always opt to write your own label and pay the postage, but I find generally even for something very small the fee charged for using the prepaid label is less, or close to the same, as paying at the shipping counter. Furthermore, I rather like the convenience of being able to hand a parcel to a carrier on the street if I don't want to line up in a UPS or USPS station.

The manufacturer usually absorbs the loss when beauty products are returned to a retailer. Therefore, I do feel that for beauty purchases the fee for using the prepaid return label should be waived.  As a compromise, if Q feels they must charge something for their warehouse having to handle a return, they should at least return the original $3 s&h.  As it stands now returning a lipstick could cost $10.  It's easy for those who live in metro areas, or live/work short distances to regional malls to say "I'll go to the store," but not everyone has the time for running around stores, or finds their day has them within reasonable distance to the nearest stores to do this.  I think makeup is more difficult to buy without seeing and touching than clothes and shoes are.  I would think the Q powers that be would consider that when making policies regarding s&h and return fees.  It's been a while since I read some retail industry reports, but the last ones I read in mid-2016 showed QVC as having rather sluggish beauty sales. The reports did not state this, but I assumed it could be connected to the mess going on with WEN since that brand is such a huge contributer to the overall Q beauty sales figures.

Re: QVC Expensive return policy!

I totally agree with @Trix.  Many who offer free s/h only do so after you reach a minimum order purchase.  If I'm ordering from say Sephora and only need an item that's $18.00, my s/h is $5.95.  It would make no sense for me to spend another $32.00 to achieve the $50.00 threshold and save the $5.95.

I do wish that places offered something better for exchanges though.  For example, I ordered a swimsuit from a company and it doesn't work for me so I'm returning it.  The policy at that company is if you want to exchange the suit, you can use their return label and they will charge you nothing for the return and issue a credit for the price of the item.  They do not refund original s/h though.  If you want to return for a full refund, you have to return using your own label and pay the return s/h plus then you are out the original s/h charge.  The original s/h charge was $8.95 for 2 swimsuits.

Not to mention if you bought something on like 5 easy pays you may owe money when you return it.

There's no rule that you HAVE to use their return shipping label!  Send it back yourself- save a ton on shipping- and get credited much faster as well! It's win win.

I go to usps.com, priority shipping is even discounted and they include free tracking. I send several returns back at the same time - I include the  related paperwork and packaging - and have never had an issue.

Yep, that's why it will be a rare instance that I buy anything from QVC.  Not worth it to me.

I'm surprised they're still on air.

9 times out of 10 when I make a return, it is just as cheap, if not cheaper to use the QVC return label.  Rarely is it cheaper for me to return on my own.
